Sending Furniture Back Home

Post by hamann » Tue, 31 Jul 2007 7:56 am

I heard the other day that if you want to send furniture you bought in Singapore back to your home country, you need to own it for 3 months to avoid any taxes. Is that correct?

I was told it was 6 months, but one of the guys here at work sent a model boat he had owned for several months home and he was still taxed on it.
The tax is also on the transport costs so it worked out quite expensive.
He is going to see if he can claim it back.
When I imported my stuff back to the UK from Canada I did not pay any taxes or duty on anything that included a car.

Edit this is for the UK only depends on were home is I guess
