If i've been charged in the court of law back in USA but the record has been cleared off, would I still be able to seek employment in singapore? What are the chances of them doing a background search? As far as I know, the record would be strike off once I'm done with my probation. Can anyone advise on this? I can't find any information on this. THanks!

Crime related issues are sensitive to say at least in Singapore. I guess it would depend on the offense / crime.
At the same time, what are you looking for in Singapore?

I'm actually asking on behalf of my bf who's American. His probation will be over next year and he's exploring the possilbity of getting a job here. So our issue here is I am not too sure how strick are copmanies here in doing a background check. As far as he knows, once his probation is over, the record will be strike off and only ppl like FBI etc will be able to retrieve his record. He was charged with a felony for making verbal threats to his ex-wife...
Thanks for help.

I would guess (I said "guess") it should not be a problem as such, but....
Better ask the ICA guys here in Singapore:

Enterprising but stupid. He should have known even airsoft guns are illegal in Singapore. Can be fatal when the pellets hit a person.

Given that this is Singapore you have to be some sort of idiot to try and sell any form of gun here, especially online.
