IPTV, another reason to go with singnet broad band

Post by bigfilsing » Sun, 22 Jul 2007 11:55 am

Anybody tried IP TV yet ???
As per the singnet web site...they will give preference to singnet users!

They are already commiting to H264 with dolby 5:1 so i'm expecting decent results.

Strange that it's over the singnet dsl service and not the starhub cable internet option.

You need an ADSL 2+ modem. I suppose this is because the modem the logs in to singnet ( as apposed to the PC connected to the modem)

I've already noticed in the settings on my STB that "IP" is unlocked. No doubt one of the various "power off then on " updates of the last few months.

I'm tempted to just plug it in an see what happens ( if the magic smoke come out i'll be back here crying  )

IPTV illegal and useless

Post by Lillou » Mon, 06 Jan 2014 10:55 pm

After having heard so much about how 'fantastic' IPTV boxes from ZAAPTV and MaaxTV were, we decided to buy one. I knew these were illegal boxes but thought, why not? It started off pretty well – the box was delivered on time with the standard remote control as promised. Pretty flimsy and cheap-looking but I was more concerned with the 100+ Arabic channels my family would get to watch. Two weeks into enjoying MBC, Al Arabiya and Mehwar, the channels suddenly stopped broadcasting. Customer support said it was working on it, and that the channels would be restored very soon. Sure enough, we started receiving them after a week or so, but our joy was short-lived as the channels would now keep buffering more than broadcasting. At present, we get Al Arabiya quite clearly but others are a mess. I have called up customer service, but the representative has been unable to provide a proper answer. I would describe the performance of illegal IPTV boxes as inconsistent and not worth the money, unless you are very lucky and very patient.

I realize this thread is six years old, but I find it pretty humorous to look at now. Singtel's MIO TV is such crap quality, but people apparently had such high expectations when it was new. :)
