online marketing: selling ads on a website

Post by luxiana » Wed, 18 Jul 2007 6:26 am

hello,

I jsut had an idea the other that I would like to try in Singapore.
I would like to keep the service free to end customers and make advertisers pay.

advertisements would come in different flavors: banners on the 1st page of the site, running banner on the site, emailing, newsletter...

the thing is: the advertiser will ask for statistics to measure its ROI such as click trough rate, CPM, bounce rate, number of print on the screen etcetc

has anyone in mind names of softwares that provide such functionalities please??

I have searched Google for "advertising campaign software", "management advertisement oneline" etcetc

but I didnt anything that looked really "pro" to me...

thanks!

The fact you're looking here would suggest that PRO is inapropriate anyway.

Go linux and you wont look back!!!

Good luck

And why would anybody go with your service instead of, say, Google?

Getting the sofware that records stats of your web site is easy.
You'll need to host your own website though ( or pay a lot to a hosting service that provides stats)

Like i said above. Go with linux. It's steep learning curve but running for instance an apache server will give you all the flexibility you need.
You'd be surprised how many people run linux in the hosting/server world so don't underestimate it's power. For example most remote webcams run some form of linux.

the main issue here is establishing a website that attracts people!! Only then will advertisers be interested in advertising on your web site. Its a chicken and egg Problem ...one has to come first.

If you create a site that people actually want to come to then the advertising will be straight forward. Theres a load of forums on the subject. Google !!!!!
Good luck

hi there

Bigsilfing: are you a programmer?
Usually only geeks and programmers do advertise Nux

I must say that since there are a few releases on the market + decent Gui the question of using linux is less and less debated ;)

I would have time I'd try to use it more often!

To Bigfilsing:

You can't host a server on a home line anyway, and if you do it outside, most likely you won't have hands-on access to a server either, so I'm a bit confused by your suggestion :???:

As to OP's question, I'll second jpatokal: why would I go to someone if I can go to google which provides all of that except email campains (and for that you'll have to attract sufficient number of subscribers prior to talking to any potential advertisers)

Max
