Singapore Bay Run

Post by Asdracles » Mon, 16 Jul 2007 2:22 pm

Hi all runners!

I have registered for the Singapore Half Marathon that will be in Singapore in August 26th (Details at http://www.safra.sg/singapore_bay_run.aspx?pageid=1433, inscription is closed this week)

However Im a quite sportive person, my last long distance run was 8 years ago, so I would like to know if any of you is doing some training for this race (or so ocasional running for 1 hour or so), as Im starting to do some running and is quite boring to do it alone.

However I have got timings about 1h20m years ago, with this weather i would be happy if Im under 2 hours.

So, any runner around??

Variable Training

Post by Asdracles » Wed, 18 Jul 2007 11:46 pm

Hi. Not following any special plan.

As I do lot of sport, and I think Im in good fit, endurance is the key. So Im running 6 days a week, alternating short-quick running (about 30 minutes at a good rate) and long-slow (about 60 minutes). Sometimes around my place (Bedok), or East Coast Park.

Next week I will try to do 40-70 and increasing in 2 weeks

Not interested in a good time, only in finishing the race. I think boredom can be more difficult to beat that tiring. Oh! And getting up 4.30 will be crazy!! I think its the first marathon where the harder km is not the last one, but the way to the starting line!

Good to know there are more forum members crazy as me!!

I see..
I am training by distance..
8-10Km 5 times a week..
After this week will be increasing the distance.
Rest few days before the run..
The part of waking up 4:30 is a downside..

Registration for Singapore Bay Run has been extended till 30 Jul for the 12km and 21km competitive. The 6km and 12km fun run remains open till 24 Aug. Ran in the 12km last year, still sticking with 12km this year.

Btw they are giving a complimentary gym pass valid for one month for all competitive runners, so take the opportunity to train up. I'm not game for 21km as yet, not at least for another year.
