advice on korea or singapore

Post by bayernaxe » Sun, 15 Jul 2007 6:57 am

hi

i am about to finish phd from nus in the near future in computer science. i need a bit of advice on choosing my first job. i am 28, single and am from india.

i got an offer from A-Star with a pay of 4500 pm ( once phd degree is approved). another offer i have is Samsung Electronics in korea. I guess Samsung's offer will be a little more lucrative ( though i have not yet recd the exact offer, just the job description).

what are the pros and cons of working in either places ?? in terms of life, expenses, and more importantly, Professional Growth ??

any folks here who have worked in Korea before i can get some feed back from ??

thanks

Korea is considerably more expensive and, if it's anything like Japan, considerably more racist towards Indians than Singapore.

Something to consider:

Quite possibly; the 'Lonely Planet' travel guide warns foreign males against walking around holding hands with a Korean girl friend lest they should encounter some male belligerence. This may seem odd when one in three marriages is to a foreigner. :?
