The last few posts had me in stitches! :D
Thanks for the laughs and Ah Beng, you're definitely one of a kind and I'm now intrigued by your alter ego, ever since Tootsie smelled a rat.

Let's try this one for size:

Lu simi mia? Mai jiesiau lar!
Aap ka asli naam kya hai? Sachhi baat bolna!
Siapa nama awak? Jangan bedek dan cakap betul, yah!

Which of these really fit you?

To Ah Lau and SG female

Wonderful....fantastic, spiffing, out of this world...........the Talkingcock site.
There's only one problem.

I love all the words so much that I'm going be in a state trying to learn them and incorporate them into my day to day living here. Mind you, who the hell would understand, say when I'm in Cardiff or London shopping, what I'm saying is another matter. But do I care? Do I hell!!

What we really need is someone on this site who knows Cockney Slang. Anyone guys from London out there? I know a few but it's an art form if done correctly.

Going to make tea now, be back in a bit........

I lived in London for a year. The only slangs I learnt that I can repeat at the moment are "Cheers", "Bloke", "Lass", "Bleddy hell", "Ainnit", "Rasmala" (learnt this one from Goodness Gracious Me, no idea what it means to this day), "Blimey", "Spod" and "Squire".

Should we attempt to exchange slangs? :D

Now, now boys and girls, you're going too fast for me. It's like sitting an exam here in Wales you know, trying to learn all these new words and phrases.
There's something I must tell you. When I lived in Singapore (hopefully to do so next year again too, so watch out you lot, but that's another story) so, when I lived there, even though I had lots of Sing mates, and I heard the odd phrase or two of Singlish, it really didn't play a big part in my life. And as such, I must admit I tended to dismiss it as maybe something you Singaporeans hid, or didn't publicize. I know now, if what you say is true, that this version of English is widely spoken in Singapore. What a shame I didn't get into it further when I was there. I think it adds so much colour to things.
Admittedly, I would prefer little bits of it now and then, because, as yet, i don't understand it all, but I think it's wonderful. Please, please don't go trying to stamp it out, or hide it in any way. The progression of a people's language away from the original mother tongue is proof that those people are growing and furthering themselves. That's what I think, anyway. Language is a fluid thing, always changing and morphing into something other. Long may it continue to do so.....lah!!!!
Byeeeeeeeee.........

Cockney slang is more along the line of.........

Apples and Pears...............means stairs etc

Just found a good site for it..........

cockneyrhymingslang.co.uk if you'd like to see what I mean. Come on, let's put some of that into Singlish and I'll do my very best here in Cardiff to get some Singlish into Welsh.............blinking heck, we'll all be confused soon...............lololol!!!!!!

Hi, seems that you are lady with a vengeance towards locals as well as M'sian man. I do not wish to engage myself with you in a lengthy argument, but i must disagree with some points that you have expressed in your previous message. True enough man generally have greater desire for "close proximity", however I wish to bring to your attention that not all man are like that. There are some nice ones out there whom you have the unfortunate luck of meeting with them yet.
Please do not be so critical of the men here and give them the benefit of the doubt. Men and women are all the same all over the world, that they are only human

I wish you the best of luck in searching for your soul mate.

Thank you Ah Lau, no I know that local men (you at least) tend to take things the wrong way and to be rude therefore they are best avoided.
I'm not rich, actually I'm a backpacker, and although money is not at all what I look for in a man, good manners are a priority. And being able to accept a little criticism with good humor and trying to learn from it is also a good quality that you lack.
