Hi,

I have a 4yr old & a 1yr old. I'm hoping to put my 4yr old for just half day school. But I'm not comfortable leaving 2 kids with my helper... dun think she can handle. And especially for the 4yr old.. I can't expect my helper to spend quality time with him.

Does any of you engage experienced teachers to just engage in Learn thru' play activities with your kids at home?

My friend in Shanghai does that for her girl.. especially it can get so tiring for mommies to engage their kids everyday.. her girl enjoys her time with the teacher who comes for just 2-3 hours & a few times weekly.

hi wendy,

Some Singaporeans do hire pre-school teachers to 'teach' or play with their children. Someone i knew said that she used to pay $30 an hour for this. I have tried out what you are describing, with my own kids but instead of getting qualified pre-school teachers, I get tertiary students -- they're younger and so often more enthusiastic and also very much cheaper! So far it's been a happy arrangement. But you've gotta be prepared, they may change classes because of projects, exams etc.
