California fitness-Lady join for free???

Post by green_field » Sun, 08 Jul 2007 11:52 am

Hi everybody,

Been planning to join Cali fitness. So I called the main office, asked them for the term n condition of this promo. The person said yes, ladies only have to pay for the monthly membership. Processing fee of 98 n enrollment fee are waived.
However, when I went there, they said no. Still have to pay for processing fee. I've checked with my friend who joined, they said they really got it waived.

So I'm a kind of puzzled here. Really wanna join the gym. But feel kinda cheated. I even called the sales girl to confirm. Bugis branch still refused to waive the processing fee .

First time I ever encounter such kind of thing. Membership fee varies depend on ur negotiation skill :???: .

Anyone encountered the same thing?

Find a better gym! Sounds like a pretty crappy operation to me.

its true ..
try to talk to different sales person, preferably from different branch for comparison.

they're trying to make bugis and novena club a little bit 'exclusive' hence the promotion there might not be as good as what's offered in raffles place or orchard.

good luck!
:)

classes are the same, the difference is only on the studio size.
i prefer raffles compared to orchard especially on weekends.
orchard tends to be more crowded :)

Oh, I see. So the one at Bugis n Novena a bit bigger that the other 2?

Well, if we get the platinum membership that gives access to all the 4 clubs, should be the same, right. I don't understand that part

Don't know what they teach their staffs, but seems like they do hard-sell :(

I don't understand that part. Maybe this is a franchise.

actually orchard is the biggest and i find novena the smallest.
yupe, with platinum you can go to any clubs, even those out of singapore.

not sure about the franchise thingy but they do have a quota to meet on a montly basis, even for the personal trainers..

just be firm when dealing with them

Strictly speaking i dun't agree with all these processing and administration fees...actually what for we have to pay? I agree with mnthly subscription when you are really paying for using facilities..but not the fee for nthing...
So many gyms in Singapore and it is not so crowded over there...so they have to pay us a fee for our choice to join their gym... :x

Yup, this bullshit is standard in Singapore, and Cali Fitness is probably the worst of the lot. Nobody ever pays the joining fee and it's typical to prepay for one year and get 12-18 months on top of that for free. There's no point in getting platinum unless you plan on switching gyms all the time, just get gold for the most convenient location -- $1088 plus GST for 12+18mo was the deal I got last year.

Oh, they also offered me the 1088+GST for 18 months, plus 3 month extra, so total 21 months. Not bad I think. Is that your deal as well? But not sure if I can commit that long esp when I've just recently changed my job to Clementi. The location is not so convenient to any of the 4 clubs.

One more reason that makes me hesitate is that I don't have a gym buddy. My girl friend is not that sporty. After dragging her for a while, I'm afraid I'll give up on her as usual

No, I managed to squeeze 27 months out of them for that price. That was almost a year ago though, when the branch was brand new, so not sure how much they'll give you now. Probably the same though -- they did the "deal ending today so you have to sign up now!" line a few times, which I ignored, and every time they just kept adding more and more months...

Gosh! Good thing I did not sign up yet. They also pushed me very hard to sign up at the spot. But I told them wanted to check with my friends who've been joining for few years there.

Thanks for the info :)
