envyme,

yes, we think very much alike, that's why i like to discuss with u. i've the same concerns too. The reason why our govt imposed this 1L rule is that there're some people who died during lipo, either the heart stopped or too much bleeding, i'm not sure.

so it's logical that it has to be in a operating theatre in a hospital, in the event that there's something wrong, the doctor can resuscitate or the anaesthetist can watch over when there's a long operation because we'll need a lot sedation, LA to sustain it. If there's no anaethetist to watch over us, the doc will be preoccupied with the lipo, if there's any trouble, it will be too late.

As a consumer, naturally, I wish we can remove as much as possible, just that safety is very important too, don't wish anyone to die on the operating table like in US and Malaysia.

Previously he rejected big sized people may due to the same reason, but if limit 2L, can't see good results. However, if he reject them, business will be affected. Honestly, how many slim girls will consider lipo, maybe some perfectionists, the majority will be average or a little ba ba.

Wow, angelfern, really have to agree that I like discussing with you too!! And I learnt something from you too, about the liposuction in theathre and there must be a anaethetist to watch over. We can't get this kind of service from Arthur although the price we pay are much higher than Nara.

I think Arthur don't have much business now, i believe most of the patient who goes over now are those who did with him before at those discounted rates, going back to continue their session only. As for new pateint who willing to pay that amount, I guess not really much except those really big size girl who are desperate to get a significant result and cant afford to take many days leave for Nara. maybe thats why arthur start to accept these patients and "experiment" if he can break record. Then yes, now he did it, i guess he will change his rule again, no more 2L limit. But putting our life at risk.

Yah, imagine those not very fat girls, just only a few areas to target, maybe calves, maybe only inner thigh, or lovehandle etc, they definitely would choose Nara. Arthur no matter what will ask them to take 7 areas for thigh, 5 areas for mid body etc even if the patient wants 2 areas only. HOW MANY WILL GO?!

yah, there arthur goes, saying how good his facilities are, post of care are n services are. Really had enough of them. I don't wanna hear anything else from them or joannababe anymore. I just wanna hear from real patients who went over and share their experience. Good or not, we will compile the research etc and decide.

Anyway, after going to Nara for this 5 areas on my next trip, I guess I will still go back for a few more areas. Maybe arms area + upper back there and waist. After body done, maybe will touch on face also, cos face also chubby. hai no choice, you will really rely and maybe get addicted to this way when you see positive results in your 1st PS. That's really true.

envyme,

ya, true. I rather go to Nara for the first round to target those problem areas first, if i've to go for touch ups or second round then don't mind nara too as i can treat it as a short holiday. anyway, I like thailand.

Arthur's too many factors to consider, if i go for second round, he'll snigger that i'm still too big, need another package of 16 areas. I've been to slimming centres before, they like to criticise, tease you & pressure you to sign up for more expensive packages, this is how I gathered from their side. Like slimming centre very pro in pushing sales.

erh hem, i started from the face lipo & buccal fat removal first, thought that i shall lose 3 kg first before I go for the body lipo but didn't expect myself to put on 7 to 8kg after that though. very misleading, coz when l looked in the mirror, face is slim but the fats have been quietly creeping up my body. very sly. :P

just a quick update on the anti-inflammatory cream issue.

Went to the pharmacy to get anti-inflammatory cream.
Told the pharmacist direct it's for double eyelids sugery.
She says normally anti-inflammatory cream is not for such purposes, the most she could issue me is antispetic cream.
Got difference meh? :???:

She says the surgeon will issue, I told her I'm going oveseas and I'm not too sure if the surgeon will issue.
Therefore thought of getting a tube over.
She says check with my surgeon, it might not be necessary.
And if it's necessary, the surgeon will issue.
like die die dun want to issue me

Left the pharmacy without getting anything. :P
Anyway, I'll just bring the current tube i have along and ask Nara if need apply or not.

anti-inflam cream is steroid..

nv apply steroid on open wound, or recently healed skin or scar..

first it can absorb into your bloodstream causing hormone problems.
second it weakens the skin tissue, prevent the wound from healing.
third steroid creams shd nv be used around the eyes due to thin skin there leading to many side effects.

pls nv apply steroid creams unless the wound is around 3 months old.. and is hypertrophic and tight.

u have a prominent forehead, so in my opinion, even with a high bridge, it'd still look natural for you :) you can always tell the PS not to extend ur tip too much. i think they are more afraid of ppl who wanna extend the tip a lot. if you dun even wanna extend at all, can opt for an I-shaped implant

I recommend a chin implant, will flatten you cheeks a bit and make your whole face slimmer and sharper.

and finally maybe reduce the upper lip a bit, so upper lip got more definition :)

Hi aadvark..
Thank's for your suggestions :D

What is the different within L-shaped and I-shaped? also what is S-shaped implant?
is I-shaped implant will look bulky / blocky? which one should look more natural in my nose?

i already asked the doctors about this but they seems avoiding my questions and only gve a simple explanations.. i know they're busy man..

i saw some trouble pictures caused by L-shaped implant,
and most of the L-shaped implant noses are a bit too pointy..,
also problem with I-shaped implant which more likely to be shifted..

i heard that implant could be shifted by the time? i won't getting any secondary surgeon to take a revision.it seems a bit risky to use implant in the nose.. =( so i probably stay with my natural bridge..
maybe i will take alarplasty & tip refinement.. also chin implant & lower lip reduction.

should i go with Dr. Preecha or Dr. Somyos??
since Dr. Preecha is much cheaper that Dr. Somyos huhu., >.<

Hi Foxxie, have you limited your choices to only Preecha and Somyos? I'm not very sure on either to be honest, but I think Somyos is an ENT by training if I'm not wrong which may be a better thing if you want your nose done. Preecha seems to be a sex change specialist and if I'm not wrong he's pushing 70 years old? I'm not biased against his specialty or age but I thought you might want to consider those as well.

Maybe you can check that out.

The thing I observed from your pictures - I'm not a plastic surgeon but I think you have a relatively short nose bridge compared to the rest of your face. Although you have a nice high forehead - a shorter nose might look odd if the bridge is augmented higher in proportion to the rest of the face. If you require nose lengthening / tip work, you might need autologous grafts and I don't feel you should risk it by going to a regular PS.

If you are able to afford 3.5k USD for Somyos, you might want to consider Taiwan for e.g. Dr. Hsu or Dr. Kao who are ENT surgeons and cost around a similar region as Somyos. For the complexity of work done, I even find Somyos quite pricey since he seems to cater to alot of western patients.

Try not to limit your choices too much by either geography or price especially if you have special considerations like tip work.

Hi Jamie!!
Thank you for your useful information and suggestions!
i'm very grateful!
well, the reason why i choose Dr. preecha & Somyos, i think they're the best i can find so far by reading all the testimonies..

Thailand is quite near from Indonesia so I think it would less risky in case something happened with my surgeon..

I was planned to done it in Korea, but it's too expensive and i don't know the best PS there..,

I'm agree with you, i love the 'curve' of my nose-bridge, if i augmented my bridge alone without doing my tip, i think it'll look so wierd and 'plain'..
Besides, i'm not sure with L-shape implant, i'm afraid the tip thins out the skin over time and may start showing through!

Do you think i will look good with I-shape implant and graft my tip using cartilage, and narrowing my nostrils? I'm finding that the best procedures for me are a bit augmentation, tip-plasty, and alarplasty.

I don't want to change the look, i want to keep the 'curve' of my nose.
Only want to make it a bit 'stands out' and more defined tip..

oh and do you have any other reccomendations of ENT doctors?
i want to make a list and do another research =)
and i don't wanna go for any revisions.. so i want to find the best PS with best price too

I've seen some before after photos of Dr. Kao.
i was impressed!

THANK YOU SO MUCH JAMIE!! =D

hi boi,

Thanks for the detailed info.
I always thought anti-inflammatory is to apply on wounds to prevent them from getting infected. Didn't know it prevents the wound from healing. :o

So when after doing double eyelids, we just clean the wound with the solution Dr. Nara gives? Any meds or advice to speed up the healing process?
How can we apply cold compress w/o our eyes getting wet? :???:

Thanks.

Yah! Slimming centre are just useless!! for bigger size people, they put on weight fast but when they go for diet or exercise their weight loss also alot but will slow down till certain weight. I used to be 90kg, i always stayed at home, not eat alot n my weight gradually drop n drop n drop until 65kg as time goes by and it stopped there!! Damn.

Now no matter how much i exercise, diet, it just takes effect very very slowly. Tend to give up, so chose lipo. hohoh

Hello Angel,

I'm leaving coming fri. :D
Got 2 packets sinecch already.
Instruction is loading dose is 1 pre-op, 1 post-op and last is before bed.
I was thinking if all my ops are at night, by the time i reached back hotel, it'll be time for bed.
Can I just take 1 loading dose pre-op, so called combine the post-op and bedtime dose and just take 1 tab and off to bed?
Like this, I can have 3 days of loading dose instead of 2 days as I have 5-6 days of op (2 pkts = 6 loading dose tabs)
Now wonderng if this method can work or not.

Those who had lipo done by Dr Nara, what time are the ops normally scheduled at? :???:

No probs :)

I don't know what combinations might suit you best but I think augmenting the bridge, improving the tip and alarplasty seems quite right to me for your case.

I wouldn't even consider the L shape implant, the better tips are usually augmented using ear cartilage from the doctor examples I've seen and I heard about L shapes having extrusion etc.

I'm not sure about other Thai ENT doctors, I happened to look at Somyos's credentials and noticed "Otolaryngology" among one of them which basically refers to ENT - thats a positive thing I guess. From what I notice though in my research, Thai doctors usually only use a silicon implant and do alarplasty - they don't seem to venture out of these procedures very much. Thailand is a good destination for nose PS if you don't require tip work and require basic augmentation - lucky people who do not need the complicated stuff, just one implant and they get a great result - they really benefit from the cheap prices for that in Thailand e.g. Nara or Preecha. Having said that, Thailand is probably not a good choice if you need tip stuff done. I wouldn't want to be a doctor's experiment or one of his isolated cases if he decides to use ear cartilage =X

If you're adamant on Thailand, then you could check up the Bumungrad maybe and they have a whole list of ENT doctors there (most of them there have their own private clinics where its cheaper). Also its a little trickier finding someone who's both an ENT and specialises in plastic surgery - and not knowing Thai makes it even harder. I personally would not only want an ENT who does plastic surgery, *all the surgeons are gonna tell you that they do plastic surgery, even those I saw in SG*, but I'd want someone with aesthetic and artistic skill with noses as well - its something you have to determine for yourself.

I think the ENT doctors on my list were Dr. Jung (which I omitted eventually after reading purseblog), Dr. Kao and Dr. Hsu. These 2 I find very passionate on their work and focus almost solely on nose (not the jack of all trades type).

For what its worth, I didn't want to travel overseas for my primary rhino - I was young then and my mom was worried about me going overseas for PS - and did it with a famous SG PS, won't mention his name here =X and his work wasn't so good. After looking at his particular result which was featured heavily in singapore media, I concluded his work actually looked that way (I wasn't some freak result) and that he really fell short of say korean or taiwanese standards. But can't really blame him since I was impressionable and pretty much let him decide on stuff and just wanted something done and improved.

So if I had a second chance, I'd have looked overseas and gotten an ENT instead who specialises in nose stuff. Also, I guess being brought up in a social environment that gives alot respect and places alot of faith in doctors and give them benefit of doubt in many things, so I wasn't as assertive as I should be and didn't exercise my sixth sense despite not feeling good about it e.g. most doctors would tell you "no problem easy procedure" but its alot better to get things into detail and on paper as well what they are going to do - so at least you know that you and your chosen doctor have the same shared goals.

I guess we're alot more fortunate to have google these days haha.

Sorry this simple reply turned out so long lol.

*edit somyos cert in ENT is for snoring treatment =X just wanted to point that out.

Hi jamie,

yeah, I agree. thinking of seeing Dr Kao when I go to taipei during dec. For those who haven't gone for nose, you may consider rib or ear cartilage, it's more natural. For some, the silicon implant will extrude at the tip, does not look natural over time. The op will take 4 to 6 hours, does anyone knows approximately how much? If not, I've to read all the 52 pages in the taiwan thread again. Thanks.

Hi angelfern,

This post doesn't belong here but I think its 110k NTD for ribs + abit more (2k?) for the tests etc... The goretex / ear cart one is 70k NTD if I'm not wrong which is about 3k sing now?
