Hematoma :(

DAY 4
Cheek and Buccal Fat pad removal.

Swelling has gone down by 20% but my family still laughs at my swollen face saying i look like a cartoon character.
The lower part of my face is still swollen but i can see a little definition in my upper cheeks already.
(Very little definition actually, but this little improvement really makes my day haha)
My family member commented that i look better now because i look like i have cheekbones from the sideview, as compared to my pancake flat face last time.
And now my nose doesn't look so high, prominent and caucasian like already.
The swelling has affected my nose and my nose isn't as sharp as it was before, i believe it will return to normal after all the swelling though.
I have also regained feeling in my left cheek but my right cheek and lip is still numb.
I'm still not able to go out yet cause i do not look acceptable socially yet.

Hopefullly the swelling will go down in the next few days, cause according to the swelling charts, swelling peaks at the 2-3 day and consequently deswells rapidly thereafter.
I can't wait to go out, i'm bored to my wits end!!!!!

Will update you guys on further developments soon!

Cheers,
Anna
DAY 8
CHEEK AUGMENTATION AND BUCCAL FAT PAD REMOVAL

Hey guys,

Sorry i took so long to update.
It's Day 8 now and quite a bit of the swelling in my right cheek is gone, but i have developed Hematoma on my left cheek.

Hematoma is blood that collects in between the incision wound during surgery when the doctor opens and closes the incision.
Hematoma rarely happens to people who undergo these surgeries but, i guess i'm the unlucky minority :(

My left cheek was twice the size of my right cheek 2 days ago and a bruise suddenly formed because of the Hematoma.
I panicked and thought it was infection and went to see a plastic surgeon called Dr. Wong and he prescribed me medication to ease the swelling.
He also told me that the hardened blood clot might move the implant, thus i need to KIV and if it doesn't get better i must go back to get the Hematoma removed surgically.

There are two ways the Hematoma can go away, one is through surgery to remove it or the other (if you're lucky) dissolves and just disappears.

The right cheek feels softer and more natural already, but the left cheek feels hard and firm due to the trapped blood clot underneath my skin.
I could actually see two implants in my left cheek 2 days back, one was the real implant and one was the hardened blood clot, rather scary if you ask me, i looked like a complete freak.

So do remember any surgery has its risks, its the first time i'm handling a stalled recovery and problem in my post op.
So yes, be prepared for worse case scenarios, cause mine came as a rude shock.
The assymetry that comes along with healing is also quite depressing, so i try my best to remain as optimistic as possible.

Oh Btw, the right cheek looks very natural and augmented and you would never suspect an implant inside.
Yup, so anyone who contemplates cheek implants or Buccal fat pad removal, you should be up and about and be able to go out without anyone noticing you've had surgery in a week to 8 days.

Other then that, i'm icing my cheek very frequently and praying for a quick recovery!
Thankfully its getting much better and i look like i have only one implant on my left cheek now.
Hopefully the Hematoma just dissolves and fades away.

Oh by the way, if you're unsure if you need cheek implants, this website proves as a great guide!

Thanks Annakilly for sharing so much in depth insights to you buccal fat removal + cheek implants process and recovery process.
You were right that I could hardly find much info about that in the forum. I am going for buccal fat pad removal at Tokai soon and your info really helped prep me up for it.

I asked and Dr Pat said that there would be hardly any swelling from buccal fat removal and i can resume my lifestyle the next day. i really hope so, as i am meeting people the very next day in thailand! i dont want to go meet my friends looking like a freak

All the best for your recovery, and i will keep everyone updated about my post op recovery as well, just to share and help others like me who dare not open my mouth and ask people about such things.

most of the swelling shld go away by 3rd week, but be prepared that it'd look unnaturally thick for the first 6 mths at least, mine took a whole yr...

and u'll get bitchy frens who'll start telling u "why so thick", "last time nicer", "so unnatural"... just bear with it for the time being :)

i still think buccal fat pad removal does swell enuff to be noticed. i cannot prove it cos i did with jaw implants which swelled way more than my cheeks, so my whole face was distorted, but i am quite sure my cheeks were swollen too

Welcome!
Its no problem for me to share at all, i hope you guys get more insights!
By the way, i don't think you should meet people the next day after surgery, i think there will be swelling.
Though i had cheek implants as well, i feel that the buccal's swelling played a big part too in my swelling.
But if in any case you look puffy, you can bluff the people you're meeting and tell them you had your wisdom teeth removed :)

Hope you recover well after your surgery and good luck!!!

Anna

Yes yes me too :(
Sigh, i hope no one has to go through this as well, having post op problems just really makes the whole recovery even more unbearable then it already is!

Thank you for the well wishes Winter!
Hope you recover well and in tip top shape too :)

Inspiring stories and great info!

Post by janvida » Wed, 08 Jul 2009 10:37 pm

Hi everyone, I'm new to this post and a newbie in PS. I've been wanting to do nose and eyes for the longest time but no courage and always felt i haven't done enough research. But after reading through this forum ( so many pages to go thru!) i'm definitely more confident and inspired by all your feedback and encounters.

I have decided to go to Dr Nara most likely in Sept. However, i still got a few questions that i hope all the experts could help me out with.

1) After reading this forum, i understand that with eye surgery, the swelling will subside after about a week. May i know if its possible to put on eye makeup after 1 week from the surgery? I only have 1 week leave and need to go back work immediately after. And i definitely need to have makeup on cause of work. would it hurt when i use eye makeup remover after that?

2) I have quite a bad recurring case of sinus and hence always have runny or sneezy nose, with the rhino done, would it be affected whenever i blow my nose, which is quite a regular thing in the mornings for me? like would i shift the implant or something?

3)I already have double eyelids but not obvious cause its kinda thin and hidden when my eyes are open. So should i still be doing a double eyelid op or go for epi? Just want my eyes to be huge! haha... they are so small now. and drooping like a chinese eight / \

Thanks for all your responses and feedback in advanced!! appreciate all the time it'll take to answer my annoying questions. after reading this forum, i realised some of you are so patient its amazing! a great gift to newbies to PS like myself!

Cheers!

1) I tink is better not to put eye make-up for time being, the eyelid still hurt after 1 wk, the swelling will still be obvious.

2) I have the same sinus problem like u, worried alot be4 surgery, but i turns out fine. Implant will not shift, juz dun blow thru ur nose, open ur mouth when sneezing.

3) I oso hv hidden double eyelids, Nara advise me to cut off the excess skin & fat, cut n stitch method. I hv epi done too, Nara said it will look nicer if epi is done together.

Lipo @ Dr Nara's

Post by kyrababy » Thu, 09 Jul 2009 12:43 am

hihi all,

I am a newie here....well i am going to Dr Nara's in August. Just a question: has anyone stayed at Novotel Centara at Hatyai before? is it far away from Dr Nara's clinic? i checked out the Lee Garden Plaza Hotel and it seems that the room rates are higher.

Also can anyone share on their experience of lipo with Dr Nara? I intend to do 5 areas and leaving Hatyai on the 5th day... what will happen to my stitches? can someone advise?

Do we really have to buy Stage 1 && Stage 2 Compression garments? will one do? what is the difference?

thanks! :D
