Hi,

Just got back from double eyelid surgery and rhinolasty with Dr Puttisak. I consulted both Dr Nara and Dr Puttisak, but decided on the latter because I felt he was more willing to listen and give good explanations as to what he was using, what he was going to be doing, etc.

I brought pictures of the types of double eyelids I wanted and he advised as to which would be most suitable for me, which will last longer etc. Then he shaved the implant according to my nose and told me he would refine further during the surgery.

The blepharoplasty was done under local anesthesia so I was wide awake during the entire op for maybe about an hour, didn't hurt at all except for the part in the beginning when he injected the LA on the side of my lid and towards the end when it was starting to wear off and my eyelids felt a bit tight. Could also smell the smoke while he was burning off the excess fat from my eyelid. Dr Puttisak was very nice and when injecting, just kept saying very gently, "A little bit pain a little bit pain ... "

After the blepharoplasty I was given GA to knock me out for rhinoplasty, I can't remember a thing after that until I woke up and then Dr Puttisak sent me back to my hotel and gave me some coconut cake since I told him I hadn't had dinner before the surgery.

Went back the next evening for instructions on aftercare etc ... my nose was so swollen I could hardly see my feet when I looked down. I told Dr Puttisak I wanted my nose sharper as I could see no discernible difference but he told me it's still swollen and I would see results in about 1-2 weeks.

Can't wait!

the 1st time i wanted to do tummy but he insist on not doing, i told him i came all the way here, i have to do something, haha, so he suggested doing out thighs.this trip i planned to do back of thighs and inner thighs. But in the end he's only willing to do inner thighs for me. i guess unless one has enough fats, he doesnt like to waste time or our $$. if im not wrong he will do only one area each day, if u intend to do many areas at one go, u probably need to stay quite long there.

Doing 1 area is painful enough to last for the next 2 weeks - 1 month. i prefer to take things slowly. afterall, lipo will not turn a fat person into a slim beauty immediately. For me i see better shape and more toned look after lipo. i dont have much inches loss since im not fat to begin with.

i want to get my tummy done, nx tme i go i muz beg dr nara. hahahaha. Have to be more stubborn than him!

hi everyone!
I've just read through 50+ pages of this and not sure if I can get through 150...!! sorry if this question was answered later, but:

@ momoko, did you eventually do tummy lipo?
I'm 52kg and 163cm i.e. not fat. also fairly athletic and fit, however I've had a fat tummy for YEARS now. and I really hate it - spot reduction and millions of crunches and running have done nothing for it.

I want to go to Dr Nara cos he's cheap - however given I don't have a lot of fat, does he do a good job on not-so-fat but obviously not flat areas? in you case, did he make a discernable impact on your thighs?

thank you!

Lipo with Nara - wd apprec help with questions

Post by curiousdreaming » Mon, 06 Apr 2009 2:54 am

what an amazing thread... this is my second post here - would really apprec if all who have done lipo with Nara can comment on questions below? thanks!
(I've tried to read and do a Ctrl-F for all "lipo" and "nara" over the last 140+ pages - forgive me if I have asked a qn that has been answered though... there's just so much great info in here)

I intend to do tummy lipo and inner thigh lipo with Nara, ASAP - poss in May. I'm fit, but unfort have a bulging tummy, which I've lived with for 10 yrs and am thoroughly sick of

- I've emailed Nara and he replied saying they use local anesthesia + sedation during lipo. is this sufficient? pain levels?
- I'm average size Asian female. 52kg/163cm, not fat but not skinny either. just big issue with protruding tummy. given Nara's reputation for the NATURAL look, is he going to remove much fat? I'm somewhat afraid he may just remove very minimal fat and perhaps I should go to Tokai.
- Does his 10,000 baht per area price include pre- and post-op care? what sort of care?
- I know he doesn't provide compression garments. What about other medicines?
- Is there a list of med's apart from anesthetic cream/scar cream that I should prepare in advance, pre-lipo?
- is scarring a huge issue in abdominal lipo? I have a history of getting keloid scars. I had keyhole surgery from appendicitis and have 2 small keloids (i.e. distended, red and raised scars).
- how have scars been for other lipo people on this forum? visible? raised/angry/red or just small white scars?
- How many days do I need to stay locally to recover?
- how soon after can I exercise? e.g. running, swimming.
- how soon will the stitches be removed post-lipo?
- Is sineech recommended post-lipo, or is that just for nose jobs?

thank you again, everyone!

Phew! I thought you had 4 altogether, my bad!
I always had the impression you did yours in taiwan!!
If you're gonna do tipplasty that means that dr putt has to remove the implant and redo it again right?
Bummer i hope you get it right the third time babe :)

LA numbs you entirely, so it's more than sufficient. GA requires an anaesthetist which just raises the cost

Everyone rquires minimal amt of fat in the body, nara wun go beyond dat. you shouldn;t either, cos u risk death when u overdo lipo

- Does his 10,000 baht per area price include pre- and post-op care? what sort of care?
not sure what pre-op care u referring to. u def wun be getting counselling etc. post-op care will be the medicines and bandage for you to bring home and take and change. if u dun feel safe, u can always consult him for free again b4 u leave for home.

- I know he doesn't provide compression garments. What about other medicines?
yes, antibiotics etc

- Is there a list of med's apart from anesthetic cream/scar cream that I should prepare in advance, pre-lipo?
i dun have as much problem with scarring, but i think there are quite a few posts in this thread discussing this

- is scarring a huge issue in abdominal lipo? I have a history of getting keloid scars. I had keyhole surgery from appendicitis and have 2 small keloids (i.e. distended, red and raised scars).
this is prob genetic. some ppl have problem healing properly. if u have a history of keloids, it's very likely u will keep forming keloids. i have a fren whose condition is so bad, he forms keloids from acne scars. have to get steroid injections regularly to remove the new keloids

- how have scars been for other lipo people on this forum? visible? raised/angry/red or just small white scars?
as mentioned above, healing is not entirely dependent on the surgeon or the type of op. diff ppl heal differently, hard to compare

- How many days do I need to stay locally to recover?
nara only does one area per day. so also depends how many areas u do. add 1-2 days to that for some rest and u shld be good to go

- how soon after can I exercise? e.g. running, swimming.
to play safe, prob 1.5 - 2 mths later

- how soon will the stitches be removed post-lipo?
when i did at tokai, the stitches were to stay on for 6 days, i removed the stitches at a gp in sg. any gp should suffice, dun go polyclinics tho, they refuse to handle such cases

- Is sineech recommended post-lipo, or is that just for nose jobs?
sinnech is used for all sorts of PS. suppose to take b4, and after op. box has instructions

thank you again, everyone!

thanks! Aarvark wd you mind if I MSN'ed with pictures to ask your opinion?

Other thoughts:
I just emailed Tokai today, to compare with Nara. I reckon although it's US$1000, Tokai does provide compression garments, which is US$250+ if you were to purchase separately (right?).
So really Nara would be ~US$300 (10K baht equivalent) + US$250 = US$550 per area.
that's still a good 45% discount off Tokai at US$1K, but Hatyai is harder to get to. plus Tokai has better post-op care, from what other forumers say.

Come to think of it, if I do inner thigh + abdomen, would US$250 be enough for compression garments if I purchase myself? or do I need US$250 * 2 = US$500 (since it is 2 areas)?

u dun need separate garments for diff areas, if u get a marena body suit, it will easily cover tummy, thighs etc area. that wld cost u USD$130
e.g. http://recoveryelements.com/fblbodysuite.aspx

i'm still curious as to wat better post-op care everyone refers to. i've been to both. the only diff is tokai has a waiting area with 2 beds which u can lie in to rest a while b4 u go off. nara doesn't have any beds for u to rest in, but it's just next to the hotel, can just walk bk and rest there.

Ardvark, I can only assume that by "better post-op care" - it means that if there are any post-op complications, Tokai is more responsive than Nara. in that sense, you are buying post-op peace of mind. certainly this is the main deciding factor for me...

I called Nara today and while they are helpful, there's def a language barrier. so they were unable to provide detailed answers to questions such as, "where would the scars be and size of scars?". In particular, the recep who answered just said "a few small scars" even after I phrased the questions in different ways trying to get a detailed answer.

Tokai on the other hand gave me precise email answers on likely size, location of scars, and is very prompt and thorough on other email questions.

I understand at 3x more the cost, of course he has to be more professional.
I am not trying to say one is better than the other (we need to weigh all pros/cons), but there's a definite difference!
I agree with you though - I don't give a hoot bout the bed/waiting room... but I def want my surgeon to be there in case any complications or questions arise post-op.

that said, Nara's cost is compelling, esp in this economy... hummm.

Thanks for the advise.
if you want to do lipo as well, just call and tell the nurse to slot it in, else he might not allocate any time for you if he's packed

thanks for the advise, have called the nurse and have book the lipo on the next day after the consulatation.

Hello Havana, I am opting to do vaser hi def for the whole body soon.

Please share with me why do you feel the doctor was not doing a good job? Which area you are not satisfied with? Kindly elaborate.
