Rhinoplasty @ Dr. Pat (Tokai)

Post by pinqx » Tue, 15 Apr 2008 12:48 pm

Hello everybody.. I'm very new here.. 20 yrs old and need rhino.

Been wanting to get my nose reduced (tip and alar) for 8 years. Finally I saved about $1300. I'm planning to do the surgery at Tokai and have emailed Dr. Pat and waiting for his reply.

I was wondering some things:
1) What to bring there (3d2n stay) to reduce swelling the most?
2) For reduction surgery is there any packingor cast/bandage/splint? As I already have a high bridge.
3) What should I take note as I am going to BKK with my best gal fren.. we've both never been there before.. and i'm very scared but determined to do it.
4) When can I go home so its not obvious to my family I did my nose? I am used to covering redness with concealer (cuz i'm always pinching it).
5) How do i ask Dr. Pat for a cheaper price?

I really hope some of you out there who have had rhino reduction before can help me out.. I plan to go 7th May.

Thank you so much. to all of you in advance...

also, i intend to go home the next day. should i wait a few months after the rhinoplasty to do a blepharoplasty? or just get everything done at a go? but i don't know how i'm going to make it back as i'll be by myself.
Hey there,

I did my eyelids and rhino at the same time at Nara ,and I wear glasses /contacts too.

It was tough, let me tell you. I stayed in Hatyai for the next 2 days, no glasses and contacts , I was like a blind woman . I struggled when i came back as I wore a pair of huge sunglasses to cover my eyes. My nose was super uncomfortable from the pressure .

I started to wear contacts after 5 days.

Try to get a pair of sunglasses that doesn't sit on your nose, I found some designs that actually sit on my cheekbone instead of my nose bridge , thanks to my high and prominant cheekbones, lol

you've been saving since 12yo?! oh man, u r really determined :)

1) you can get hold of sineech before the surgery, will help u heal faster

2) yes, there is still a cast even if u not doing ur bridge

3) plan your flights and accomms well and bring enuff cash. if you're both girls, try not to get a hotel hidden in some alley, best if near the main road, safer that way. Most booking sites provide a small map of where the hotel is.

4) if u doing tip it's gonna take a while to heal. the stitches will require like 5 days or more b4 can remove. wun advise to use concealer while it's healing, in case u irritate the wound.

5) u have to consult boii18 on the bargaining bit :D
... for me, i cheated, i just emailed dr pat and said," you quoted me XXX previously for so-and-so surgery, is it still valid?" of cos, XXX has to be reasonable. Remember to quote XXX in baht for more authenticity. Gosh, can't believe I'm teaching u this :P

Good luck! :D

hey folks...i've bought tickets to BKK, going tokai next Tue...ALONE!!!
sian...no companion...too bad can't get stun gun in Singapore

going to revise tip and alar...he said my nose hard to fix due to past failed tip plasty and alarplasty (done here in Singapore). at first quoted me 45000THB, after much bargaining, now it's 35000THB. so i guess snowss still get a better deal than me...

so folks...never ever do PS here, they screw u up and in the end u pay more to fix the problem!!!

Well that is a great find as it proves that i mentioned before fiona xie did her eyes, nose and boobs with a surgeon locally b4 her acting debut.
well cant imagine so many local man liked this plastic woman w/o knowing it.. even one of my ex idolise her, dawn yeo and paris hilton, i was like Wtf, idolise a plastic idol? lol

nevertheless, i dunt think the surgeon did a nice nose job as it is very obvious to those who knows PS well enough. BTW she and most other local tcs actress and actor (include bryan wong) did their PS with the doctor in paragon.

only phyliss quek did her PS at china. made in china! gosh she is really braved!
bryan wong's implant was very obvious. I remember he first came on a show after his implant, and i was shouting to my family "OMG, he did his nose!" lol :D

but not everyone can tell, depends on what u notice on other people's faces. I always look at the nose first. Some ppl look at the eyes, some mouth, etc... so ppl notice diff things
although look very different from now, but one glance can tell that it is fiona xie, cos she is such a dumb poser....u see here in every pic, and she smile the same way and tilt her face the same angle...

btw, in her latest 8 days cover, feature her lying in bath tub, can see very clearly she had alarplasty done before lor...but i guess not everyone can tell...esp those who r too bust staring at her boobs...

Yep I do know of WAL. However youll have a nightmare finding anybody doing it. I dont know of any in Thailand that do it and even in the states only a few do it. Supposedly its better and less traumatising.

From what I know and think:

The old form of liposuction of just sucking fat out is very tramautic and dangerous.

The newer form(though still old) tumenescent is less tramuatic and painful post surgery but can have sides. However if your under GA then theyll prolly switch it over to super wet( i think thats what they call it) which basically means they use less saline etc solution and more vacuuming since your out anyways bypassing lidocaine toxicity issues, as would be the case in awake states of tumenscent.

Smartlipo(laser) from everyone that has tried it has said it wasnt very painful or traumatic. The key here is to ASPIRATE THE FAT OUT. Dont leave the fat in there. Smartlipo can be done 2 ways- 1. Just laser away and leave the fat there (commonly done at dermatologists etc) 2. Laser and aspirate the fat.
If you do smartlipo INSIST ON ASPIRATING REMOVING THE FAT. Its silly and stupid to leave all that fat there considering smartlipo will probably cost you more and leaving the fat there might only get you 30% of the results had you removed the fat not to mention your hdl/ldl etc will go completely out of wack leaving all that fat there. saline solution etc is still used just like in tumenscent.

VASER or UAL is using ultrasound and uses solution just like tumenescent. Supposedly better than standard but no real life cases show that. Like laser it burns/melts the fat down.
There is a doctor at Raffles Hospital who does the water lipo. I did vaser lipo but compared to my friend who did the traditional tumescent lipo I got relatively poor results. I was told vaser is better than Smart Lipo. Oh, After Vaser, I was able to go on my own...I could have easily gone shopping etc. Back to doing crunches I guess...

shall start sourcing for a revision in case it doesn't go down to a reasonable size. With the bigger width, i look older and fatter, definitely not positive on both accounts. granted, the side view and 45 degree view looks nice and defined, but i have got to face people somehow
Please wait for six months at least before you decide on surgery again for the jaws. It can take forever for the swelling to dissipate. Does it swell more when you exercise or run? Jaw implants can take well over a year to settle down. Is the numbness improving?

yah bryan wong got that kalo nose look. lol. too high for him and of coz it is too tight as his nose not much skin at the bridge.

i also look at the nose 1st for PS as eyes can be difficult to see with heavy makeup.

for example is yen, she has potential for nose job becoz she has more than ample space around her nose and eyes, her low or no nose bridge before PS and her skin is loose, especially at her bridge area (which most of us dun have) also her nose skin is quite thick. For appletree, b4 she go to kalo, i mentioned to her that she will need a nose specialist rather than just implant as i can see the area around her nose bridge and eye is rather compacted and her skin is thin and tight, hence not really suitable for conventional rhinoplasty.
Golden Rules of PS:
1)If it aint broken, dun fix it / dun fix what u dun need
2)Perfect individual features usually dun yield perfect face
3)Work on your confidence 1st

aardvark

if the swelling etc is bothering you so much why dont you get some kenalog injections spread over the area in there? that would reduce the swelling pronto but make sure its spread out evenly and well throughout.

1month is too short a time frame for a revision because you would still be swollen. wait another few months upto 6 or so and if not happy still then go get it revised.

Shal0m:

make sure he does it right. Nose jobs are veryy veryy hard and the more revisions the harder it becomes because of degradation of virgin tissue and increasingly more scar tissue. If your nose was done bad I would highly suggest atleast a consult with a specialist in rhinoplasty and not just a standard PS. Yoskarn clinics Somyos Yoskarn is head of ENT at ramthobodi( i think) hospital and a professor and specialises in noses etc.

Trust me on this one. My partner went to Sorawuth who did the standard job and didnt look good, he revised it again and still no good- actually looked aweful with still deviated septum difficulty breathing large nostrils curved nose . Other famous PS afterwards just said leave it alone bla bla bla cant be done etc. Somyos confidently said can be done and understood what he wanted. He did predict it will be a hard surgery and complicated and hence why nobody else could do it to start with since its very delicate work. He did what all others had said cant be done etc. And yeah it was extremely complicated and precise work because normally a standard rhino + chin implant would take only around 1hour to 1.5hours. His case took almost 5hours(i think). Awesome work and everything works perfectly. However dont expect any discounts or anything from him. The man is excellent and he knows it and wont discount anything and charges the same price. But definately worth the money if you want a revision or excellent work etc. If its a simple implant augmentation then many many other doctors are cheaper than him.
