i juz got back from tokai n i had quite a traumatic experience. 2 yrs ago i had smartlipo done at a clinic in orchard and after tat i could go shopping straight away. i was also expecting it to be some sort like this but i was totally wrong.

my appt at tokai was 10am. i went in ard 9.30am to register. i waited at the reception til abt 10.05am before i oculd not longer take it and asked the receptionist how long i had to wait. she told me abt 20mins. i was kinda upset as i made the appt at 10am and even came down earlier than the appt time.

during the consultation, he tried to make me take up chin implants and eyelid surgery as well. my original intention was fat pad removal and face lipo. in the end i took up arm lipo as well. he even claimed tat most of his customers will do the full body in a single visit. tat made me wonder as we all knw we can't remove so much fats frm the body in a single day.

so i paid n waited again for the surgery to be performed. during payment i was charged with an additional 3% for using credit card (this wasn't conveyed to me during email and consultation.).

i waited til abt 12+ and felt v impatient as i had been fasting and did not take any fliud since the nite before. i kept asking when will the surgery be done n they kept saying soon. finalli i was brought to a room at abt 12.45 pm where they took pics of me and put me on the drip. n my gawd! the doc had to poke 4 holes on my hand before he could find the vein for the drip. the clinic was also quite run down n old. n interesting thing is they din ask me for the contacts of the person in the event of emergency. so i reali wondered if something reali had gone wrg, will they knw who to notify?

i was left alone in the room with some thai music in the radio channel for a long long time. no one attended to me or anything. i got so fed up i dialled for the recept using my own hp. the doc came n told me that the anesthetician will be here at abt 3-4pm. i was quite upset. if he were to be here so late, y ask me to go to your clinic at 10 am in the first place?! u could have told me earlier so that i could have gone grab a small bite while waiting for him to come! there was abt 3 hrs to go so they moved me to another room with tv to watch.

when i was lying on the surgery table, no one spoke to me. it was quite horrifying. they spoke among themselves in their own language n before i knew it, i was alrdy put under GA. nxt ting i knw, it was alrdy 4 hrs later and i woke up with bandages on my face n arms. my colleagues were so worried (cos i left for the clinic early in the morning) tat one of them came down to the clinic to look for me. we nvr expect it to take so long.

the nurse told me to brush my teeth using a small electric toothbrush for the nxt 1 mth as the fat pad removal will tkae a mth to heal. bt initially i was told by the doc tat it will heal after 1 week. nw i reali dunno hw i cld turn up for work on mon.. sighs. after this, i dun tink i wanna go bac animore. i'd rather spend a bit more to go smartlipo iat a sg clinic or more establshed thai clinics instead.,,,,

I am sorry to hear about that. I hope you will get well real soon.

Looks like the doctor is doing hard selling. I just noticed that the pricelist in the website applies only to farangs, whereas for thai people were told to call to enquire instead which i believe will be much cheaper.

Anyone going to Dr Nara soon? I'm looking for buddy to go together to remove my implant. My nose is swollen again and this is already the 3rd time liao. I don't think I can keep it further as I got 2 infection within this month. It started to swell this morning as soon as I finish my antibiotics. I'm neither a smoker nor a drinker and are really very upset.

Hah, so glad to hear that...I guess I m being paranoid  No pig nose till much later...now if I gently touch also painful [-X

I just had my stitches removed today...I did it at a polyclinic. At 1st the doctor refused to remove it for me, coze she suspected tat it's dissolvable.

She said in Spore those dissolvable stitches is transparent(like what I am having)...those non-dissolvable is blue or black coloured. She even made me sign the agreement form saying if anything happen dun blame them

But the thing now is....I still have stitches inside my nostils, near the tip of the nose...do I have to remove tat???[/quote]

I was saying it would be difficult to remove it at the polyclinic and they didnt remove the stitches inside the nose again.

The stitches in my nose were not dissolvable. The worst thing was they said they could remove it when i called them and when i went there they were pushing me from doctor to nurse and all of them were like Wahh cannot.. it was in my nostril but not That deep... sheesh.. and kept saying "You do plastic surgery ar?" like i was some kind of freak show told me they cldn't do it and then charged me for it. $@#%#^#$ :x

so sorry to hear that... think glacial complained about long waits too... i went around 7pm so there wasn't anyone in the clinic, so i din have to wait much.

think smartlipo is less invasive and easier to heal, and also easy to hide under clothes, but buccal fat pad removal, if you read online, it should take a few weeks to recover. I lipo-ed my cheeks also took 3-4 weeks to completely deswell... think if we do anything on face, we can't expect to go to work within the week, definitely not possible... should at least arrange to go back 1.5 weeks later, else very easy to see face still swollen

did they ask u to sign an indemnity form? hmm, they made me sign, and had my singapore contacts written down also.

lucky u din go nara then, cos nara's clinic is smaller and less equipped than tokai, think u would freak out! :P

yup they made me sign indemnity form and i filled up a form with my contact details. but they din ask for my emergency contacts which i find was quite strange. lucky i gave my colleagues the clinic details so when they realised i din return to the hotel, they went to the clinic to pick me up..

i understand tat it cld take a while to heal bt the doc shld hv told me instead of giving me high hopes tat it can heal in a week's time. lucky i din agree to the eyelide surgery n jaw implants. else it wld be much longer.

i dun reali like the place cos i tink they dun tell u a lot of tings i.e. they cld hv told me earlier that i hafta wait til 4pm for the anesthetician to come instead of making me wait like an idiot. moreover i had the impression the op will be at 10am so i started fasting the nite before...

haiz..

at least at nara's, when we reached there at 12pm, we got to see him quite soon, then Ning apologetically told us that we have to come back at 8pm for surgery. (we later heard from some m'sia ladies that some indonesians just show up and wanted surgeries stat as they are flying off the next day). nara is never pushy, in fact he will tell u that u don't need this or that..

i think thais r generally nice ppl, but they r just not trained in "customer service"- eg. to reassure patients etc. or maybe they r not so good in speaking english in the first place, so they may not want to be misquoted. yah, they like to play thai songs while they operate..

in conclusion, i guess the fact is, we pay for what we get, it is impossible to drive a ferrari when one can only pay for a hyundai or toyota...can't expect SIA business class service when one is flying some budget airlines...one still gets to his destination, just that the experience is different 8-)

abt the infection thingy, it's impt that one takes care of him/herself. here r a few tips for the newbies:
1. make sure u do not suffer from any respiratory tract infection before going for any facial PS (eg nose, eye, intra-oral), that u have recovered at least a week before the PS.
2. rest, drink water, eat appropriately, light exercise
3. be +ve mentally, don't look into mirror all the time, it makes u feel depressed
4. keep wounds clean
5. take antibiotics regularly and complete the course
6. do not touch the PS area, leave it alone til at least weeks later
7. avoid crowded places.

i had chin and nose done at nara's on the same day, but i have no infection at all, i was the last patient of the day (left at 12am), and i travelled by coach to n fro. i washed hair and face the moment i returned to hotel after PS. ur own immunity is the best thing against infections.

shalom u washed over ur PS area immediately afteR? i juz went to change dressing this morning. the doc placed plaster over my wounds, wrapped up with some elastic bandage and compression garments. he told me to use wet towel to wipe my lower body only. (a bit unhygenic i feel). so isit ok to take out everything, wash n wrap back again?

i did face/ chin lipo , buccal fat removal and arm lipo.

after i did the cheek lipo, they also bandaged me up. when i got back to hotel, i removed all the bandages and proceeded to shower, avoiding all the wound areas.

Then after that i used wet cloth to wipe the wound areas. for face, i still use facial scrub; just wet my fingers with a little water and then rub the facial scrub into skin (apply as close as you dare to the wound area but not on the wound itself), after that, i used a sponge to help me cleanse the area.

At first the doc didnt want to remove the stitches for me coze they suspect mine is dissolvable...saying if they pull it out will tear my skin tissue

Made me sign a form then they proceed....At first, they reccommended me to see a specialist, but then I decline

But now, I guess the pain is worth it  My nose have completely healed, no more swelling....I am a happy patient :P

Now am thinking of going back maybe sometime next mth, if they have cheek implants....hahaha

the black threads right? have to remove 5 days later. inside the mouth will be swollen for a while. make sure u brush regularly to keep the inside of the mouth clean. Inside the mouth should be dissolvable, but dun use ur tongue to touch the wound, easy to get infection that way.

standard school of thoughts say that u should avoid wetting ur face after facial PS, lest it gets into the wound and cause infection. that is true, esp most ppl won't know what to do after wetting the dressing. that's why it was not one of the "tips" that i put up...i stated it as a fact that if u have strong immunity, and that's all that matters. i have supper oily face and hair, so no choice but to wash face with water. but i was once-upon-a-time trained in PS (I am not a PS though), so I know what to do when my dressing gets wet.
so again, washing ur face is not what i would advise ppl to do. pls do use wet wipes, and and wipe gently, do not put pressure on/around the wound area.
