Freelance rates in IT

Post by leroimarcus » Fri, 29 Jun 2007 11:37 pm

Hi all,

I'm coming to Singapore in September to work in IT in a bank. I'll be an employee of the bank with a salary that seems to be in the average.
Does anybody knows if it's possible to swap to a freelance contract after a while ? If yes, what are the rates ?

Thanks a lot

The only way to find out is to tell the bank you're quitting, but that you'd be willing to work as a consultant instead. Figure on 150-200% of your salary as a consulting rate -- and remember that the price to pay is lots of expenses your company used to shoulder and terminal uncertainty. Works for me, doesn't work for most people
