is my housing budget reasonable?

Post by pakeeza3 » Tue, 26 Jun 2007 9:41 am

i am a new zealand citizen coming to Signapore from Aug to December with two friends and our combined budget for a 3 bedroom place is somewhere from $1200 - 1800, not including utilities. Looking at the prices of places here .. is freaking me out big time.

is our budget reasonable .. will we be able to get a 3 bedroom place for that price somewhere?

we would prefer something with a direct public transport route to the city and to the NUS campus.

we are coming on exchange to the Bukit Timah law campus.

any help would be great. we have tried hostels, etc. but they have all been booked out solid until next year and we'd prefer a place together rather than each of us renting a room somewhere!

I suggest contacting with NUS for accomodation help. Perhaps they may have some contacts which provide reasonable accomodation for students. with 1800 SGD, it would be a miracle to find a 3 bedroom. But don't lose hope, you can find rooms available on classifieds section within your individual budget (600 SGD). You may have to split with your friends, but if your budget can't afford it, there is no other way.

Good luck!
With my kind regards

a large 3 room hdb flat is quite achievable for that amount! go for it!

do note that for hdb flats, they count the living room as one room! try to go for a 4-5 room flat! still affordable for that amount
