Cost of having a baby in Singapore???

Post by Kavita 07 » Mon, 25 Jun 2007 2:17 pm

We've recently moved to Singapore and are planning to have a baby. I've heard that the costs here can be pretty high. Can somone please tell me how much it really costs to deliver at one of the good hospitals like Mt Elizabeth?

Also any information on medical insurance specific to maternity - how does that work?

Really appreciate any feedback I can get.

Thanks!

You might want to have a look at this thread

As far as medical insurance goes, you'll have to check your cover with your own company - we weren't covered and if I'm not mistaken the majority of policies do not include maternity unless there's some sort of medical exception.

If you want a quick answer:

I delivered at Mt. E one year ago and we paid about S$7,000 for a natural birth with epidural. This includes the doctor and anaesthetist fees.

I hope this helps.

Hi
I have 2 friends who delivered here- one at thompson medical-cost $3,500-no complications and no epidural. another went to mt e and it cost around $10,000 with epidural. depend son the obstetrician fees so you can shop around.
we have taken additional insurance policy for me only as local company policy doesnt include maternity. our policy unusual as it will cover the baby WITHOUT EXCEPTION immediately following birth-most poilicies would only do so after 14 days(allows insurance company to refuse coverage for a premmie baby or one needign any special treatment.) our policy is with ALLIANZ. It cost about $1700 USD.
email me if you need further info. [email protected]
