gluten free shopping in Singapore

Post by Judi Drown » Sun, 24 Jun 2007 2:09 pm

Hi,
We are an Australian family living in Port Moresby. We usually go to Oz to stock up on gluten free food for our coeliac daughter but this time are holidaying in Singapore.
Can gluten free food be bought any where in Singapore? Can anyone recommend a supermarket? We usually look for bread mixes, cereals, meusli bars, pasta etc. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Judi, you might want to try Brown Rice Paradise upstairs in Tanglin Mall on Tanglin Road, which joins Orchard Road at the western end. Marketplace (part of Cold Storage) in the basement and also the pharmacy right outside it may also have some items. Supernature, not far from Tanglin Mall, is also a good bet.

There is also a "Naturally Marketplace" in Vivo City if you venture down that way (newish mall near the gateway to Sentosa). It stocks quite a few organic Waitrose products so may also have some gluten-free.

In most of these shops and also Carrefour you can get some German long-life bread that is gluten-free. I buy the mixed seed and also the rye ones. Soda bread is also available - don't know about your daughter but I'd rather go without!

Also vegetable pastas from all of the above.

You can try Bunolon in Chip Bee gardens, tthey are organic and might stock gluten free.

Also The Butcher on the same street has coeliac sausages.
