Singapore package

Post by good_boy » Fri, 22 Jun 2007 10:37 pm

I have received a job in Singapore as a finance controller for one of the oil & gas companies. I currently work in India with a salary of INR 15 lakhs p.a. Now I have an option for the Singapore transit.... whether a local Singapore package of SGD 87K would be better or I would be better to go on a India expat package where my India base would be INR 17 lakhs and my housing and cost of living in Singapore would be taken care of ? I do not intend to settle in Singapore so the benefits of PR on local package doesnt attract me.

xe.com thinks Rs. 15 lakh is S$56,700, so you're looking at S$30K less in salary. S$87,000 would thus get you a housing budget of S$2500, which isn't all that much at the moment. So the "expat" package is probably the better deal.

For PR, it doesn't matter which one you take -- you qualify as long as you're steadily working in Singapore and earning a decent salary.
