Traveling with pets from the US

Post by abhandari » Wed, 20 Jun 2007 11:13 pm

Hello,

My husband and I are considering job offers in Singapore - a major determining factor is managing the trip with our 2 dogs. We live in New York and rescued 2 little terrier mixes a few years ago. My fear is that they won't survive in quarantine as they have already gone through a traumatic experience in animal shelters. Is there any information you can send me about the condition of quarantine facilities? Whether we can keep them in a home under quarantine? If we can travel via the UK under the PETS scheme and then bring them to Singapore?
We are willing to spend anything to make this a good experience for them and for them to be with us if possible - they are like our kids.
We would consider not taking the job offers (no matter how good) if they do have to be subject to 30 days in quarantine where they are put in cages and not allowed to get out.

Please help! If you know of any service that provides advice and options, I would appreciate a referral. Thanks, Amrita

No there isn't a home stay quarantine and this is not the US nor the UK. There are horror stories and good reports. Guess it depends on personal point of view or whether or not you are bringing huskies or st. barnards into a tropical country. You can visit your dog and are encouraged to do so.
