Cancellation/change of flight with budget airlines

I was trying to change/cancel my flight at least firstly to get somebody on the phone. And always I was put on hold for hours and I would have to hang up cause I lost patience and got the same thing when I called up again in say half an hour, argghh!
So I had to leave the flight go unused cause there was nothing on the e-ticked saying what the procedure is to cancel/change your flight with this budget airline.
Anybody knows what to do in a similar situation?
Is there a chance to get some part of refund with unused flight?
I heard with RyanAir in Europe you can get refund for the tax on unused flight.

Jokes apart, there would have been a cancellation policy which you might have agreed to while booking the e-ticket.

We usually tend to ignore such policies while doing online transaction.

Find out where the airline's office is and pay a visit to them.

I can imagine the frustration. I have found the service with budget airlines to be really poor esp for such enquiries....but then this is where they compress I guess. It is budget afterall.

Which budget airline is this? Some allow changes/cancellation online. All of them have to, by law, refund you at least the taxes of your ticket, but actually getting them to do this is often exceedingly painful.
