Moving from non-managerial to managerial position

Post by vodoextt » Tue, 05 Jun 2007 11:57 pm

Hi Guys,

This is my maiden post and need your advise. Recently I have the opportunity to grow from a Supervisor to a IT Manager in another company.

I was wondering what are the benefits that other managers in Singapore are having, other than the salary increment portion.

Off my mind, I was thinking of asking for car or car allowances.

Thank you.

a lot of companies offer car allowances to managers, so yeah, i would ask if they offer that.

some other perks are out there such as country club membership. but, it sounds like you are going to be an entry level manager, and that sort of thing is for senior level management. some other companies offer incremental health care benefits for managers too, like private versus semi-private room, etc.

but yeah, basically the most you can hope to get perk-wise is a car allowance. they don't tend to lavish things on 1st level managers, so the most important thing is for you to determine if this is the right job for you, rather than what sorts of goodies you might be getting.

good luck.

Usually, entry level managers in MNCs get the following:

a. Transport allowance;
b. Phone/ Internet allowance;
c. Health club membership;
d. Additional medical/ dental allowance
e. Increase in flexi-benefits (more choices in your benefits cafeteria plans)
f. Flyback to your home country (for expats)
g. Increase in housing allowance (for expats)
