Possibilities to adopt a child when living in Singapore

Post by kiddo » Wed, 30 May 2007 12:00 am

Would like to better understand the possibilities to adopt an Asian child in Singapore for European expats. Does anybody want to share his/her experience and be able to outline the possibilities, procedure, length, costs etc? Thanks in advance!

From what I understand, adoption in Singapore is not common. According to stats, majority of the orphans are of malay origins (so religion can be a major problem).

Other than that, most orphanage will require you to provide evidence of employment and past 6 mths pay slip.

Thats what I understand from my colleague.

Not much info but hope it helps

also want to adopt

I know one family from UK who adopted a child from Cambodia during their time here. There are different laws depending on what country you are from and where you want to adopt from. We are also hoping to adopt, or to begin the process while we are here. We are from the USA. I would love to hear whatever information you learn about, and likewise I can inform you when I learn more, which I hope will be soon.
