tennancy security deposit

Post by German_Expat » Mon, 28 May 2007 11:10 am

Hi,

I recently moved out of an apartment two months before my tennancy agreement ended. The owner had two agents harrassing me for a move out date because he wanted to seel his apartment. I agreed to move out and handed the apartment back in teh same condition as it was handed to me, fresh painted, shining floor where you could seee yourself in, all aircon thoroughly cleaned, bathroom cabinets newly varnished, etc.

When it came to asking for the security deposit back the owner could find no excuse for deducting any great amount so he tried to argue that I was in breach of contract because I moved out early. He wanted to retain one months rent. I said ok, and I will keep the keys until the end of that month. But because he needed to sell the apartment he agreed not to hold back this amount. Now when I received the cheque I find that he has contrary to what we agreed deducted a prorated brokerage fee for the remaining days of the tennancy. Whe I tried to call no one answered teh phone. Also, the apartment has since been sold and the address I have for my landlord is still the address of that apartment. I intent to take this to the small claims tribunal but need the correct residence address of the landlord. His agent just keeps saying its nothing to do with her anymore. My agent who handled this tennacy is also ignoring calls and text messages. Where can I get the address?
