Anyone with interest in the furniture business?

Post by earthChild » Thu, 24 May 2007 6:34 pm

For the record, the furniture post wasn't meant to be an ad. Though I understand how it could have come across as one (must be the result of me being in invite-writing mode since my prior posts were invites).

Moving on, is there anyone here with interest in the furniture business? Or knows someone with this interest? Would like to network. Thanks!

Unfortunately the prices of javanese and indonesian furniture do not reflect quality or workmanship, or which is not that good for commercial sales, although there are plenty of green people about!

I do have a friend here in Singapore that has been doing antiques, reproduction, and contemporary import & export of furniture for a number of years, by the container, so if you need furniture that can be arranged.
However to dive in and just start selling can be quite dodgy, without solid knowledge of wood and the treatment of wood, especially in Asia. You have to be very careful you don't import furniture, that is already riddled with woodworm eggs and other pests!
