What about our 5 dogs

Post by terwindt » Tue, 22 May 2007 11:22 am

We have been in HK for over 10 years and it seems we are moving to SIN. Nice but I cannot leave our 5 mongrels back!! What are your experiences with quaranteens, are there any hills in Singapore or areas for long walks without having to leash them? Help!!

5 mongrels! hmm... might be kinda troublesome. There are laws regulating pets. If you are staying in a HDB flat, you can only have one toy dog, landed property will allow you to have 2 or more Huskies/Golden Retriever/Labrador sized dogs (depending on your dog size).

Then again, 1/3 of singaporeans do not declare their pets according to stats, so the biggest problem would be your neighbour. haha.

But be sure to get them microchipped in singapore, just in case. (pets culling is government hobby). I have contacts in singapore where you can do that or register your pets, drop me a mail before you reach and I'll arrange for you

There are dogruns available in Singapore, both Bishan and West Coast. Both are fenced up big grass areas for dogs to go off-leash. West Coast dogrun is open to public, and Bishan dogrun is managed by Singapore Kennel Club.

For Bishan, there is also agility trial in it. However, your dogs has to go through a temperament test before they are allowed. Aggressive dogs are definitely rejected.

Thank you Germany for the advise!! All our dogs have microchip and are desexed, so no worries. Do you know people that have had to put the dogs through the quaranteen and have had good/bad experiences?

How about the very north of Singapore.. where there is hardly any population seems very green there; is that national park or so?
Can you walk in there with the dogs?
Thanks

Singapore is covered with greenery, you can even find parks in business district areas!

So rest assured that your pets will have more than enough place to roam around. Just remember to pick up the poo. Haha
