JUst been through this so hope I can help.

You have 42 days to get your babies legitmacy established with the Immigration Checkpoint Authority if your baby is not a Singaporean Citizen by descent. You will need to get the babies Birth regisrty done at the ICA Building on Victoria Street (Level 3) so that the ICA isues an immigration slip. Once you have the Birth Certficate you need to take your babies passport photo which is not easy. In the end I usd my own digital camera to get it right as you need a welllit photo showing the baby with eyes open and mouth shut. Once i had the digital photo I took it a photo lab and they were able to make the necessary passport photos.

With the Birth Cert and Photo, you ill probably need additonal infoamtion to register your baby as a citizen under your country. You need to call you embassy now and check what is needed as the processing time may take 5-15 days.

hi there,
Get the application for a passport from the baby's country of citizenship now. Then you get the BC at the hospital. The most difficult part is the passport photo. WE decided to buy the newborn baby package of photos from the company that does them in the hosptial as they promise a passport useable photo. This was the easiest and we have some lovely pics and cards to give out. The other thing is you should do it ASAP because of the time restriction... we had to get the temporary pass extended as the the dependants pass did not come through in time - even though we got the passport within a week... the sing government took longer than we expected!
