We will move to Singapore this fall from New York; my daughter is going to 2nd grade and my older son K. Any suggestions?

Hi, I've done a lot of emailing--all reply as "no vacancy now". Because the local schools' year is calenda year, so this is their last term, they wouldn't accept any foreign students. I heard that local schools are more strict academicly. As a Chinese, I'm all right about it. But it might not be the same system you're used to.
The locals get priority--so contact the school you like directly and put your daughter into waiting list ASAP. The school list is in http://app.sis.moe.gov.sg/schinfo/

we visited several schools and left the choice to my ten year old son and he felt more at home/comfortable in OFS and seeing as he was the one going to school, his decision and input really counted.
we visited chatsworth and they portrayed a great image, but when my son chose OFS over Chatsworth, they became very aggressive and in fact my company had to pay the deposit for us filling out an application form!! all schools (private) are run for profit??
The people at OFS have been more honest than most here and whats more were willing to wait for my son to make a decision, more than can be said for chatsworth!
we visited another school nearby and they were purely interested in money!
good luck, but kids can adapt alot better and have less fears and insecurities than most of their parents?

well after going to OFS for the first day, my opinions have not changed.
as for a fire hazard there are a few stairs, but less there than in most condos!
fairly well organized in getting the kids sorted for a first day.
They had an information meeting for parents where you could ask questions instead of complaining after...
staff at the front desk are helpful.

OFS Vs Aust Int

Post by aussies05 » Thu, 23 Aug 2007 11:49 am

I have a child at Middle School Level, Year 8 and have had a tour of both the Australian International School and OFS. After seeing both my son also made the decision to lodge our application for the OFS School. We have found no problem at all the the administration staff and were very helpful with lodging our application. Our son is on a pending list, however the atmosphere from the staff was polite and inviting. They made my son feel welcome which to me is very important. Good luck and any Australians wanting to catch up.. Let us know!!
