The reality of being an SQ GAL
Ode,maybe u would like to go and read the SIA min age again...its not 21 years old..one can become SIA cabin crew if she is already 18 years old..mind that..its 18 not 21....I was so shocked when I saw your post..
what would you feel if you are the girl?imagine you are the one being raped..and still, someone out there is saying that you are being seductive and it takes 2 hands to clap..yea it does takes to hands to claps..but not in this raping case..if it takes 2 hands to claps, then its not called rape...glad you are not in SIA...hahahah

Accomplish or do not begin
autumn-reverie wrote:SIA Cabin Crew Gal, thanks for sharing with us your personal experience. It certainly paints a more realistic picture of life as a cabin crew besides the glamour and perks we usually associate it with.
I'm having my mgmt interview on Mon and have been really nervous yet excited. But your posts have jolted me out of my excitement and prompted me to search deep down and ask myself why i honestly want this job. Ultimately, does it simply boil down to the glamour associated with being a SQ girl? I really hope not..
That lead me to further wonder.. if i make it pass the interviews, i'll have to defer or even end my education. Will i be prepared seeing my friends go to Uni while i wander off the less trodden path? Am i ready to enter the working world full-time at age 18? Will i be strong enough to handle all the bad stuff thrown at me?
i really hope so. i guess i won't have to worry.. i'll most probably not make it through anyway
Hi autumn-reverie,
you sound quite familiar? I tink we ever xchange mails here or sumetin? Never mind...hehe btw dun worry too much. Everywhere is the same with work politics which you cant escape. Dun make our stories scare you too much infact hopefully it makes u more prepared to enter the working world.
To SIA Cabin Crew Gal, I exactly know how she's feelin n going thru rite now coz I went thru the exact shit during my probation. N at times now (cleared my probation thankfully!) they r still some crazy ones who will just make ur life miserable on flight but trust me, its very2 rare nowdays. Just take it with a stride, ignore these 'loveless' ppl. They just feel a sense of satisfaction making otes miserable. Thus dun leave them any chances doing that. Is ur probation ending soon? Once you clear ur 'P' plate, ur untouchable!! Really...coz thats how I feel right now..total FREEDOM! So no worries, its a cycle once ur a senior make sure u dont end up like them. You will start to enjoy ur job more as you get more knowledgeable on ur job scope. But once u've cleared, anote ting to worry..new work position the galley. Hehe..take it step at a time, be tough! Just do ur best k?

i too felt kinda exasperated when i saw his posts, as he clearly did not put himself in the poor lady's shoes. no girl deserve something like this to happen to herselfcaryssa wrote:Ode,maybe u would like to go and read the SIA min age again...its not 21 years old..one can become SIA cabin crew if she is already 18 years old..mind that..its 18 not 21....I was so shocked when I saw your post..what would you feel if you are the girl?imagine you are the one being raped..and still, someone out there is saying that you are being seductive and it takes 2 hands to clap..yea it does takes to hands to claps..but not in this raping case..if it takes 2 hands to claps, then its not called rape...glad you are not in SIA...hahahah

Hi Ode,...Ode wrote:To starrynitezz,
My apologizes. Abroad shld be the correct word. No wonder my post didnt make any sense to you... Abroad as in overseas.
I did not insinuate anything. I'm usually quite direct & blunt. Must be your own imagination. I do not criticize the lady/woman. Just hope to reprimand those stewardess who may not be so decent thou i'm in no position to.
The case sounds dodgy to me. Yes, technically it does takes 2 hands to clap. You mean you can clap with 1 hand? Would like to see you do it. What really happened no1 knew.
The man should be canned if found guilty. There isnt any canning for women in prison.
I would like to think that that there are nice, hardworking, decent ladies in SIA cabin crew.
And lastly, all cabin crew are at least >21yrs old. 21 is not a young & innocent age. No longer a minor in spore's legal context.
seems like you've may been hearing quite a bit of negative stuffs on wat cabin crew does when they're overseas....well, it may not be entirely true and it may appear unfair to judge them, based on hearsays of a rotten few...
When a woman gets violated, she don't even have the chance to clap....either she'll be busy fisting/trying to fend off her attacker (if conscious) or unaware of her surrounding (if drunk)...that poor gal, i pity her...cos her life's not gonna be e same anymore...she's gonna recollect those moments again2, especially when going for court hearings...and definitely not easy for a woman to come forth and report her being rape..a lot of courage involved n emotional distress that follows....
and again..that guy is not going to be caned....he's going to be hanged by his little dice and raped by the little red ants by the rambutan tree...

last, even when a woman is scantily or provocatively dressed / having the "she's asking for it" syndrome ( not in this case, of course)...it still gives no right for any man to violate her.....
cheers...
Don't just dream,... Live it!!!! It's only 36 000 ft....

Everyone is happy during flight, the seniors will join in the fun to make the flight enjoyable. We don't get zapped etc. We work happily and everyone had a great flight at the end of the day. Even on my first few flights, when I still don't get things right, they did not even zap, throw faces at me. In fact, they taught me the right way on how it should be done.
Hi Queenie-me, mind sharing what airline that is? (the outside based one) Sounds like a great working environment

I'm sorry but if you're posting on a forum in English, please ensure you have at least a comprehensible written command of the language.Ode wrote:I thnk i can suggest stewardess to earn xtra cash by providing free services of such when they aboard... Thnk some thngs r open secrets in the airline industry oso. :p I thnk sometimes oso the women deserves it for being seductive & nt knowing how to protect herself. I've worked aboard b4 & i'm fine. Hmm maybe nt gd enf to provide any sexual stimulation to any men oso. Cannot, i'm a aspiring cabin crew, better nt talk too much rubbish on tiz forum... :p
But from what I can understand of what you wrote, I think you're just as bad as the man who raped the stewardess. I really hope you aren't from my country(Singapore) because I'd be sad to know that there actually are people born and bred here that are so backward in any reasonable sense that they think of women as easy sexual commodities like your post clearly reveals.
That is absurd and I totally agree with you on that it is rubbish and you should talk less on this forum.

help la. this is a open forum. people can say whatever they want, so long (mod thinks) it is appropriate.

there are people with degrees and work experience but they don't speak English well.
but anyway, i cant fathom why u bother to reply when nobody here seems to understand u a wee bit.

can't anybody say anything here without a degree??
lol i don't see the link.
when ode mentioned about "taking 2 hands to clap", i do agree with her, however not as a same subject as a rape case. the word "rape" itself already suggests that it's not consented by one party. the case could be as simple as him (whose identify will surely be exposed among the crew/hotel staff) gaining access from the hotel staff and violating her (therefore aware of the full consequence). or, at least one party is drunk. or, she sent the wrong signals (therefore maybe the "take 2 hands to clap" theory). or, etc.
this doesn't only happen to crew, it can happen to anyone. you don't even have to be out station.
