This thread on Airlines have been here for a very long time.
You can actually go through every post and you will find it.

However, I am pasting a snippet from our handbook:

'Most airlines require you to be no shorter than 5ft 2in and no taller than 6ft 3in. This applies to both men and women. This is for safety, as you will be required to reach equipment that is carried on board the aircraft'.

Yes it for reach but you're not only reaching for passenger items.

Is there such a thing as TOO tall? do u tink 187 for guys is considered too tall?? For SIA i mean... Coz have seen the SIA guuys... they are not really very tall...

I would think so, I can't remember now but I think some airlines specify a maximum height. The reasoning possibly would be there are parts of the plane where it would be either difficult or uncomfortable e.g. the crew rest area where I think the roof is a good deal lower than the main cabin. Maybe one of our active flight attendants will put you right on that one.
