I just updated my company car with a gps have to check the name. But it is pain, signal strength is a pain, sometimes I do not get a signal for more than 30 min. and when drive to Vivocity under the bridge it would loose signal --> pain.

Maybe someone can provide info if this is a general issue in SG or are there any devices which work more reliable.

Cheers

generally phone are not that good for use as vehicle gps, takes a long time to lock onto the signal and drop signally easily.
its better to go for a stand alone GPS if using in vehicle.

I have the N95 which is crap GPS, unless used with an external antenna for car use! The phone is typically over rated for the price, so don't give too much, I managed to get my new one for a good price, inclusive of 2gb maps in the UK unlocked.

I was also a little disappointed when it blew, connecting it to the TV with the supplied cable, must have been static feedback through the headset, the volume was down, its being repaired now, so be warned its pretty crap for the money, although the camera is not bad!

Garmin have got to be the better of the two in experience at least, they have been in the GPS business supplying marine GPS for years, I would most certainly chose a Garmin

Garmin have got to be the better of the two in experience at least, they have been in the GPS business supplying marine GPS for years, I would most certainly chose a Garmin that have a good reputation for quality components and latest chipset. Components being the main issue and decider on receptive quality, it maybe a good idea to ask if it works indoors, as well as outdoors, all depends on the task requirement
BTW I'm looking for some singapore street maps for the garmin street pilot I3 any ideas, besides the download site.
