hi, i am not a stewardess from SIA, but i've heard from my frens who are flying with SIA that even people who are 156, 157 can get to pass. while some who tried at the recuitment drive, they are booted out when they couldnt reach the minimum height requirement. It's subjective i suppose, depends on their mood or depends on luck. I'm not quite sure why is it that sometimes can sometimes cannot. Perhaps some crew here can give u the answers :)

there is a reason why there is a height requirement...
and yesh they are very particular about height...

one of the problems ul face is closing of compartments....and for those standing at 156 and 157...u can barely jus clip the compartment..not necessarily secure it...so it does pose a danger and compartments will auto open when plane takes off...

of cos u can secure it every time by standing on the edge of the seats..but if u were to do that every single time someone boards....
u prob gonna pose certain delay during boarding time and causing inconvenience to other colleagues helping u...

think twice bt it even if SIA manage to let u thru...
but den again....SIA is really very strict bt height.....ul prob be rejected at the entrance.................

think bt it k? im not trying to disappoint u...i would love to see those who have passion in this job to be able to get in..
but this is a fact and it cant be changed...moreover now the new A380 compartments are even higher...?

I'm standing at 1.57m and didn't have problems at SQ interviews. It really depends on the person interviewing you really. I guess they'll let you pass if you miss by a tiny bit, provided that you present yourself well enough (well-groomed). Even if you dun get pass the first time round, go try again. Don't just give up after one attempt if you're sure that's what you want. :)

I never work in planes but i always travel in planes and i am a regular SQ traveller.

I am only 1.55cm or maybe lesser but i am able to help my neighbours (Sitting around me) to put their luggage into the compartment and clip it without any problem and there is this chio bu (stewardess) asking me whether i need her help and she keeps smiling at me until i feel so paiseh...
