How to find a place for the summer?

Hello,

We live in China and want / need to spend the summer in Singapore to make use of the good hospitals there are in Singapore. I am looking for a place to stay for myself and my 2 kids. I've contacted real estate agents but they tell me that apartments need to be rent for min. a year. Serviced Apartments are really pricey.

Could anybody give me any suggestions where to look for a place for 2 or 3 months (July, August, September).
Are there any real estate agents who do have short time rentals?
Are there any agencies who have holiday houses?
How can I get in contact with people who want to rent out their place while they are gone during the summer months.

Hi Margareth,

It is really very difficult to find somewhere to stay just for 2-3 months. Even at the moment, to make a 1-year contract is quite difficult unless your budget is strong to support. Landlords here prefer to make contracts which are more than a year and if it is for short time, they tend to increase the rent.

Service apartments is the best solution although you mentioned that they are expensive. There is an increasing demand on any type of available property recently as many expats relocate to Singapore just like me.

You can check out the classified section for rooms to share, but you intend to come with your two kids and I guess you wouldn't prefer sharing the place with a stranger.

Your options are very limited, but keep on searching. Someone in this forum could be more helpful than me.
