Laptop insurance???

Postby sq009 » Thu, 26 Apr 2007 1:36 am

Is there such thing as lap top insurance? what do they cover? is it really necessary and any recommendations?

After shopping around, I've only managed to find AIA laptop insurance from my agent. Any others available and how much?

i had one a few years ago and decided not to insure my laptop again.

the terms and conditions are rather restrictive.
in case the laptop is stolen it has to be 200 km away from your home
they dont cover when the screen is broken (which is likely to happen accidentally) etcetc

BUT

I have a Acer Aspire purchased in singapore and I wouldnt think twice about the extension of warranty. you can walk in to their service center or get the laptop picked up at your place (depending on the warranty you have)

I think Toshiba and Asus have a good warratny has well.

anyway: a warranty doesnt shouldnt stop you from backing up the data regularly ;)
