Thanks alot Cocoloco! I'm glad to know that we can still use webcam after all. Phew! :) I'm surprised Dubai actually have that kinda restrictions. I thought Dubai was supposed to be more open and relaxed than Doha. But anyway, keep our fingers crossed and hope Doha won't follow them. Oh yah, by the way, how do you subscribe to internet connection in Doha? Will the house officers in Doha show us ard when we get there?

Hi melodie,

Don give up yet... i remembered in one of the thread that one of the gals was saying that they do welcome ppl to come back again after realising where went wrong...

And yes i definitely remember that caucasian who jumped Q, OMG, he is there!!!!!! well i think as long as you do anything behind they are fine...

Did they tell you upfront that your behavior is childish coz if they did that is kinda of rude....

Don't feel demoralised k.... Many tried and fail, you have proven yourself to be selected for the second round.

non-verbal behaviour can be instances like..

1) were u pretending to be nice (eg. being extremely polite by smiling only when ur toking to them; keep shaking their hands at the most minor instance; saying 'thank you' excessively <-- irritating and FAKE..),

2) were u sitting up straight as they were talking (its only polite to show tt u r listening to the interviewer by sitting up straight, and looking at them, responding to their speech/qns by nodding ur head etc... do not slouch..),

3) how u respond and react under simple circumstances.. etc..

and alot more..

i dont think they will put anyone down upfront. its not the usual practise of any airlines. take their comments with a pinch of salt and try again the next time. im sure when u start flying, there'll be SOME sadistic passengers who will go all out just to sabotage and make things hard for you..

thx for everyone's words of encouragement

i know i tried my best already, all the basic courtesy i had it shown properly as well, i know i was kicked out cos i was showing my real personality, ie to joke myself which wasn't so presentable in their eyes...........

they didn't judge us individually, they just said it in general it would probably be the reason if we found ourselves perfect but still got kicked out

I told them" wow i lost weight".. maybe they dun see me as being matured enough.. all the other girls were so pretty and all made up.. dunno if i should be trying for qatar again coz they will surely reconise me..maybe i should take a break.. :(

Hi wendily,

yeah you have my words, i will definitely "bomb" you the next time.... wahahahah.. QATAR is having another recruitment drive in JUNE, wow, that is pretty fast huh, i thot it is other airlines you refer to...

Seems like the last batch only a few get thru so they really are in serious shortage of ppl... i am wonder since singapore language is behasa melayu, could it be one of the reason that most of the malays get thru for the second round, just a thought... as i read in prev thread, to be able to be schedule back to SG for flight also dependent on the country language...

I don't think that they are purposely hiring malay girls la .. yes, the official language for Singapore is malay but most of the time, they send the malaysians to singapore and the singaporean malays to malaysia .. So, it really doesn't mean anything.

For QR, we frankly don't seem to have a fixed standard as to who we hire. Its all pretty dependent on who the interviewers are.

In regards to how you guys should carry yourself in such interviews. Well, things like sticking out your tongue and making a joke .. well .. i wldn't call it being childish .. but rather it shows uncertainty. And well, being able to laugh at yourself is a good thing, but its all about how you carry a decent conversation with someone that matters.

We have very different profiles of passengers.. some can't even speak a word of english, others simply can't wait to find something to blame the crew for... and .. everything you say on an aircraft to anyone can easily be used against you.

One example. There was this really talkative male passenger on 1 of my flights.. we were chatting with him and having a good laugh, then he went back to his seat and pressed the call bell, i answered it and he asked for like 4 different types of drinks .. when i went back into the galley, i casually joked with another colleague "hey, your favourite passenger is asking for drinks" ..
little did i know, his girlfriend was standing there, and then she went back, and gawd knows what she said to him, they decided to kick up a big fuss .. and lodge a complaint against me .. coz i used the term favorite .. which to them was insulting .... i was shocked.. i was telling my colleague that simple to remind her who the passenger was and he WAS our favourite passenger..

With this little story in mind, everything you say and do on an aircraft cld be misconstrued as something else totally different if you aren't careful .. and these are the things interviewers look for .. how tactful are you? how do you create conversations without potentially causing a law suit..

People think we are just "dumb blondes" .. but in reality, you gotta have some brains when you're dealing with such "idiots" on board..

Welcome to the World of Flying .. Where we work hard, but we play damn hard too .

I think you should wait till you are 20 then go for the interview. Since they have already indicated the age limit..
