SMS,
Would you believe it, I was just typing up some of our observations before the final (hopefully) testing tonight!
Actually it has been a nightmare, I hope he gets a good mark! After the initial struggle to find the equipment (spent a fortune - balsa wood, super glue, knife, fan etc) we found that the planes just spun in the tunnel. So we have extended the pipe by sticking rolled up card to the end and are using wine bottle seperators to straighten out the air. Initially he was attaching the plane to the centre of the fan with string so now we have taped paper clips to the top and bottom of the pipe and are attaching that to the planes with reinforcement rings (usually used to strengthen paper in ring binder folders) We have tested this and are now using elevators on the wings but it seems to work. Last night we made 6 models to test tonight so fingers crossed.
Thanks for your help at the start, nice to know you're still thinking about it! Thought it was only me and my son who have become obssessed with aerodynamics!! (Which I knew nothing about to start with)
