UWC

Post by Patrick777 » Sun, 30 Sep 2007 12:38 pm

I have just put my sons name down for k1, the class is full and they have over 100 hundred people on the waiting list all of which have paid 2k for the pleasure. I know a few teachers from UWC and from what I hear early days it's hard to split the schools when children get older then UWC, Tanglin and SAS, canadian etc are better schools than others but they are all a pretty decent standard.

I heard from a teacher they are now charging 5k to have a older student considered for a place which is madness? They have very few places as the children get older so become very picky. This is the main reason for me getting mine in early doors.

If I had older children I'd try for any of the above schools plus OFS as you're not likely to get in UWC.

Good luck

Apologies for dredging up an old post here but I found this when trawling through the archives. We are also looking for a school for our 15 year old starting next month. We will visit in person of course but in the meantime are trying to research on school websites, school handbooks and old posts like this. OFS looks possible and hoping for an update from swapskills and Nillhacootie. Did you go for OFS? Have you been satisfied? Any info from other current grade 9/10 parents appreciated. We are probably not here for the long haul so no point waitinglisting for UWC, Tanglin, SAS. Other possible options may be Chatsworth or ISS. Our kid is not super-sporty but likes a friendly game of soccer or basketball. He has slight dyslexia and needs a little support but gets good grades. Any of these schoold likely to fit the bill better than others? All help appreciated.
