I realised that music CD/DVD prices here are much cheaper than Europe. Is this to encourage purchasing legal copies or does it have some other reason?
With my kind regards

An interesting question, one I don't know the answer to myself. I'm hazarding a guess it maybe VAT seems to be on everything else.

Just to give you an idea : A normal music CD costs around 20 Euro or more in Europe. That would make 40 SGD with rough calculation.
I am surprised with the prices here. But it is good to collect some missing albums in my archive
With my kind regards

bit small ... not sure if you download but at least you can watch for free and uploaded very soon from what i see. should be able to feed your crack addiction unless you want to watch the show on your 50" plasma TV with surround sound system.
I tunes is also great for download.
Limewire is another place to try if you feel like crossing to the darkside (c'mon, do it ... just try it ... everyone's doing it ...)

what are laws made for? Breaking them of course, at ones own risk! If you do the crime, don't complain, when you do the time! Is it worth the risk! Yes i think so for personal use only!
However I did read some place that Singapore does monitor peer to peer downloading, how, I have no idea, although I believe they are not interested in the home use, unless they are really heavy users.

My friend's hubby (a Singaporean) once told me that it's ok to break some rules in SG as long as you don't get caught. And I was thinking with all those surveillance cameras around and investment in high tech stuff...one who breaks the law will be caught eventually.
But about the P2P downloading, there are some hardware and software that are designed to monitor peer to peer downloading (what comes to mind is the Cisco NBAR IOS feature). NBAR stands for Network-Based Application Recognition and there are modules specifically for peer to peer apps like edonkey and limewire. Most ISPs have heavily invested in Cisco hardware.
It's not about scaring you guys but it pays to know what's out there.

it's impossible to enforce every law.
as long as you're not abusing it (i.e. dowloading huge amounts, jaywalking everytime, etc)
u should be fine.
we're probably breaking the law as we speak (conspiracy).

You're a legend, huggybear. Thanks for these.
And I think the first link lets you save the download, if I'm not mistaken. You have to configure the player that pops up to auto-save the download, it seems.
edit: correction, it's only the streams that are divx format that seem to be savable - using the later versions of divx player.
