DPS school

hi ranjana
nice to see aresponse from HK for my post!!!!!
welcome to Singapore. have u approached DPS for admission? it is a nice school following ICSE curriculum. they follow Indian edu system......so Arpil to March is the academmic year. u would be joining mid term so to say. if ur kid has completed 4, admission will be for K2(UKG) here.
i like the school and am finding it comfortable in all respects. but it is located on the extreme northeast side......so if ur house is in the east coast, it will be a lesser distance to travel for the kids. they do not have any branch and offer only one morning session from 9 to 3.30 p.....
hope u find this informative.
keep mailing for anything else

Hi Vidya,

Thanx a lot for the response. We hope to be there by mid June and I am told that its holiday time then.My lil one is right now in a Montessori system.Would like to know what they expect kids to know at this stage. My elder fellow seeks admission to grade 7.By any chance do you know anyone having kids of this age...Too many question?
If its fine with you would be grateful on some info on many more things..Well,one or a few at a time...

Ranjana

Hi ranjana
welcome here.
When u come it will be holidays at DPS-school reopens on 2nd JUly after summer break. so u can try for admission then-anyways u need to settle down here before school!!!
as for what is expected for admisiion, i really do not know what a montessori system teaches -so broadly the child must be able to write the alphbet(CAPS AND Small letters) and numbers upto 50. if he can read 2-3 letter words like cat bat rat etc, would be useful. Hindi will be starting from the beginning so no probs there. i do not know anyone in 7th grade........but have a friend in DPS who has some kid in the 5th or so......will direct her to you when u are here.
hope u find this useful
Do not be afraid to ask alll the questions u want to........singapore is not simple-so knowledge beforehand will give u the needed strength and power!!!
bye
Vidya

Hi Vidya,

Great and thanks a lot to see your response ASAP...I cannot PM my queries since I need to post a few more POSTS to qualify for the same.
So I guess I will have to take my queries across through this forum only.

Shall trouble you through as and when some thoughts cross my mind...
