Importing a couple motorcycles for personal use

Post by actionong » Wed, 04 Apr 2007 2:31 pm

Hi,

I'm moving from California to Singapore in July and am hoping to bring my cat and 2 motorcycles along. I found a lovely article for bringing the cat and a long tedious proccess for importing vehicles.

One of my motorcycles is a 2003 model, which is over 3 years old. However, I am not planning to use it on the street, but only for track use in Malaysia (Sepang and Pasir Gudang tracks). It seems that to import it as a 'race' bike, I need to have it sanctioned by the Singapore Motorsport Association. While its currently registered for street use in CA, there are options to register a vehicle as 'non-op' in CA, which means its not legal to use on public streets but can be used on race tracks. Is there such a provision in Singapore?

The other is a 2005 MV Agusta Brutale, which I do want to register for street use.

Are there any reliable importing agents that I may contact?
Anyone had experience bringing in a motorcycle? How many posts do I need before being able to PM? Thank you

Hi. I contacted singapore road transport authority call LTA. They are saying that my R1 had to be less then 3 year old before u can export to singapore. And it will be subjected to taxes.
After that had to go through a lots of tests to prove that it is road legal. U should check with the relevant authority. Good luck.
