My SIA interview process.

Hello everybody, I received a lot of help from this forum whenever I have doubts, so i'm thinking to make a small contribution by sharing my experience in all the stages for the SIA interviews.

Feb - My first round of interview was held in my poly, because there was a poly career fair , so I got a chance to try for it. There are 4 of us in the first round, I'm the only one who got through, my attire: Jeans + casual shirt. My speech of self-introduction: only 4 sentense, because i didn't prepare.

March - I received the email to attend the 2nd interview( 1 to 1), which was held in STC. The interviewer was very friendly, I was ask to read a passage then self- introduction again. Questions ask were: What do you know about being an air steward/stewardess? How can your learning/pass experience contribute to the job. I got through this round again.

March - The water confidence test, guess what, there are only 3 of us in the session, coz i thought it's suppose to be a group of people say 30 to 40. But...really, there is only 3 of us. When the intructor ask whether we know how to swim, we answered yes, then we jump without the life vest, swim to the end of the pool, then we were being ask to jump one more time, with life vest, 3 of us all got through. It's quite an experience haha,..

April - My last interview , management( 2 to 1 ) , self-introduction and tell me about your family, what are the attributes do you think a flight attendant should posses. The interviewers were friendly throughout the session, I knew I can't make it when it's half way through....I was shivering , totally tense up and being reserved, it just not me in usual...So in the end, they ask me whether i have question for them, The question i ask was : What is the biggest challenge when you are selecting us as flight attendant? From the answer they told, it's actually what's lacking in me, They are looking for somemore who can be comfortable to carry out a smooth conversation, uneasyness is a no no. Confidence, and relax.

So i didn't pass the last interview, but it's alrite, for you guys out there, if you intend to try out again, you gotta know where is the weakness and get it improved, they...got a record of you...haha

I realized, attire is not really the key point at least in my case, the content of your speech is not really matter, why matter most is... your spirit and style of how you present yourself, or engaging the interviewer, even if it is just a casual talk, you in means you in.

I wish to thank M, intrinsic Dreamer and everyone else who contribute to the forum, and help me in my question, millions thanks, and good luck to all of you who is going to the interview. All the best ! For those who can't make it, don't give up easily.

If you guys have any questions ? or it's confusing in my post, welcome to ask ok? Good Day everybody !!

hi. ive few qns to claify!

may i ask which poly and course u belong to?

how come, there isnt any kebaya round?

SIA conducts recruitment talks for ALL polytechnics right (np, sp, tp, nyp, rp?) issit on a yearly basic?

issit true that it is less competitive during e poly interview as compared during e public interview/ public walk in?

cos, im quite suprised or amazed, abt e population who went for e water confidence test.

lastly, do e SIA mgmt combined all e shortlisted ungraduates poly students from all e polys to go for e 2nd round interview and so on, together?

good luck!

There is no kebaya test for me because I'm a ... male. there are only 2 of us who pass the interview in my poly, i'm from republic poly, course of study- Information Technology. I know other from TP as well during the 2nd interview, i guess they gathered all the school recruitment and put in the same session, because i met them in 2nd interview , water confidence test and the management round too...

im so interested to know, hows e response in RP, i mean in terms of e people who went for e recruitment?

so, in RP itself, u jus have e self-intro at there issit? what else r u tested on IN RP? so after that, u will wait for e letter whether u passed and r instructed to go to STC for further interview rite?

It's alrite, this is a female dominating career, haha. The response in RP is actually quite good, especially for gals, lots of my female frens went to, sort like their dream jobs, haha, but the passing rate is quite low. According to my fren, the interview session in poly and open is the same, in terms of the process, for me, i just hand up the form then they gave me a time slot and a group number, yup, just need to introduce yourself only, the outcome is immediate whether you are in or out. If you are in, they'll tell you wait for their email.

Btw, in my management round, there were only 3 guys, only one got through, but sadly, he can't pass the medical checkup, really felt sorry for him, he did great because i heard LOL coming from the room during his interview session.

oh dear, what a pity. the guy sounds like he's really suitable for the job, making the interviews laugh...

what was it that made him fail his medical?

I think it's not convenient to reveal this, but it's minor, totally not a health problem.

Hey Groundzeeero, thanks a lot for your long 1st post above, i'm sure many ppl will find that useful! i'm sorry to hear that you didn't get pass management round, but i think you've an attitude that most of us could learn from. Will you be trying again? And anyway i was also wondering why u have no kebaya round (personally my jinx round, ughh)... haha!

It's a after 6 months thing, and from this experience, i do learned something, and I believe you guys are the same too, which is clearer of what you really want.

Mate, did all the guys know how to swim? I had guys in my batch whom didn't know how to swim but they jumped anyway?

I guess we need invitations for non-applicants to try out the jump at our STC!

Water confidence - Please bear in mind you sign a INDEMNITY form before you jump into the pool - If you die, drown SIA is not liable. The worst case scenario is your life vest does not work - Then you're screwed big time. I remember donkey years ago my friend went for that round and everyone snatched the good life vests leaving those lousy ones! So yeah, always good to know how to swim

PLAVT, i agree.

its alwaz good to know how to swim.

if i were to open an airline, i'd want ALL my cabin crew employees to know how to swim.
