Actually I have an associate considering an ex-EDB employee for a sales position. The candidate presented himself to be very well connected with the local industry and he was very impressed.

However, at the back of his mind is the irking that EDB is a government stat board. And usually, gov workers has a certain stereotype image attached.

So we are wondering if the people from EDB are different from other stat boards? And are EDB officers really industry Movers and shakers like this guy claims to be. Or are they mostly admin paper pushers?

From my experience they can be quite good. I know one ex edb guy who's now a ceo and very good at it. However, you have to take people on a one by one basis. This guy could be as good as he claims or he could be putting it on (like I do :D ) It's hard to generalise that, edb is quite professional, but that doesn't mean they all are.
