CX is recruiting!
Hi Plavot,
Unfortunately, we were not advised of the salary scale and the minimum number of flying hours. I guess they will share this information with us if we are offered employment.
Anyone went for medical today? I postponed mine to Thursday, kinda anxious to know the process and what we are going to be tested for. Thanks HEAPS!

An X-Ray will be taken. Ht/Wt. Blood test. Eyeysight test is brief and simple, so don't worry. You can go with/without wearing your contact lenses. BUT DO BRING THEM just in case.
After all the examination, you'd see the doc for a urine test. And the doc will ask general Qns about your health provided you are really fine. not like sickly kind, lah. Hehe. And then the doc will do a fast body check, like "band foreward, stretch your hands, don't let me bend your elbow" etc etc. And for females, the doc will check for brest cancer using hand. Very fast, no worries.
I didn't take my urine test thou, gotta go back another day. Bloody menses, literately. Haha.
And as for the pay scheme thingy, really don't speculate now. I keep hearing different stories even at just a short trip today. One is a Tiger Air crew, has friends working as CX groud staff, been sucessfully transferred before interview were publicly conducted to be cabine crew. They say the pay is going to be minumum 2.5k/mth after allowances etc all in.
Another who has friends in Cathay HK based say that the pay scheme here is going to be contract. Meaning no basic, you get paid as much as you fly. Heard a figure like $20/hour or something.
No one is clear, so i am blocking out my ears for the pay wise. Heh. I just want to fly!

Just thought y'all would like to know. Got this from my TTG Daily News.
"CATHAY Pacific Airways has announced the temporary suspension of flight operations to and from Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, until further notice, following the closure of Colombo's airport late last week."

Cathay Pacific Suspends Colombo Services Until Further Notice
29 April 2007
Cathay Pacific Airways today announced the suspension of its flight operations to and from Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, until further notice. The decision follows the temporary closure of Colombo’s airport late last night after an attack on fuel facilities in the city.
Safety is a top priority at Cathay Pacific and a careful assessment of the situation will be made before services are resumed.

For those who successfully make it into Cathay Pacific, you can be assured of a safe route now that the all the SIN-COL flights are suspended.
But I think this is definitely going to affect the number of SIN-based crew being recruited since they will not be needing so many people now..

One has to look out for engineers--
they begin with sewing machines and
end up with the atomic bomb.
Marcel Pagnol.

I believe it to be related to the historical/political problem of the Tamils wanting a seperate state, perhaps the following link will help shed some light on the situation (I'm not aware of the attacks taking place for any other reason);
