But if they are lenient towards malaysian applying even though their requirement is that u must be a singaporean and have the rights to live in singapore. i hope they are not so strict and be lenient during the interview then so all of us get the job. *wishing upon a shooting star* :lol: :lol: :lol:

Hmmm. I think it doesn't. Either you're a Singaporean Citizen or a Permanent Resident Citizen. You could try checking with ICA.

Why don't you guys read the advertisement a copy of which I posted earlier? So long as you have the right to live and work in Singapore there shouldn't be any problem (PR's have the right to live and work in Singapore, you should know this) [-X

Er, that I think you'd have to call ICA and check with them.

Perhaps you can clarify something which I don't remember? I thought Malaysians had an automatic right to work in Singapore? Unlike me who would have to prove I was worth one or more of various passes which are not so easy to get.

flight cat,

right of adobe in singapore means you are a Permanent Resident. that means you'll have the blue IC.

if not, you don't have the right to live and work in singapore, unless if you're a singapore citizen of course!

and, having a work permit doesn't mean you have right of adobe! cos to apply for work permit, your employer needs to apply for you. once you leave your employer, it ceases. and ohh, the work permit is a green card.

if you wanna apply for PR, refer here:
http://app.ica.gov.sg/serv_pr/per_res/app_for_pr.asp

but are you sure you wanna become a permanent resident? it takes 3 months to process and you have to satisfy these:
The following categories of foreigners are eligible to submit applications:

* Spouse and unmarried children (below 21 years old) of a Singapore Citizen (SC)/Permanent Resident (SPR);
* Aged parents of a Singapore Citizen;
* P, Q or S work pass holders;
* Investors/Entrepreneurs;
* Hong Kong residents who satisfy certain guidelines can apply for permanent residence by submitting applications through SMC Management Consultants Pte Ltd in Singapore.
and they will eventually start asking if you wanna become a citizen.

hope it helps! :)

oh hi, sorry for late reply
right of abode could mean PR or existing work permit
anything that allows you to stay in SG currently without extending your tourist visa can be considered right of abode (with some exeptions which won't go into details)
however, CX will not help you apply work permit if you do not already have one
so you'll need a PR or already holding a work permit or employment pass
hope this clarifies

but also, if you are no longer employed by the employer who applied your work permit for you, should you have one, the work permit will cease immediately. and cathay will not apply work permits for crew so.. you'll still have to either have permanent residency or singapore citizenship. :)

ya that is usually the case
so if u stop working with current employer it'll also naturally mean your right of abode ceases
in some countries your work permit may still be valid therefore you may still have the right of abode and can continue working till it expire but not for sg
so generally in sg.. u juz either need to hv sg pink or sg blue ic, easiest to rem
