Hi Camperboy,

Simple mathematics here... Assuming what you said is right.

A pilot’s life is equivalent to 3 cabin crew’s life. In the event of an unfortunate terrorist bombing, Cathay Pacific already lose 3 cabin crews if one pilot dies. There are usually at least 2 pilots which makes it 6 cabin crew’s life.

How many cabin crews are there on board a plane at any one time? Let’s say 20. Will Cathay Pacific want to lose 6 cabin crew or 26 cabin crew?

Pilots are out of no choice. Someone has to fly the plane and under the Cathay rules, their pilots either have to be Hong Kong citizens or have the right of abode in Hong Kong. For cabin crew, they can outsource from other countries…

In order to protect their own Hong Kong cabin crew, they are making Singaporeans do the shit work for them.

As simple as that, get it?

~Ever wondered why Cathay Pacific sent out invitation emails so readily as compared to other airlines like Emirates or British Airways?

They are worried that nobody is willing to take the risk for them.

However, it looks like their worries are unfounded. :)
Funky, u didnt answer me sumtin....

So the crews from singapore are sent to colombo...

What about the pilots?

Pilots are paid so high that 1pilot salary equals to 2 or 3 cabin crews...

So how? Their life not important....

And please dun tell me the pilots are recruited from singapore as well...
sure.. losing two 10k HK salariied captain is better than losing 4 HK cabin crews

simple mathematics indeed... lol..

u forgot the insurance of the cabin crews and captains also...

and not to mention... which airline would wan to risk their million dollars plane.. hahaha

Well, I think for this position is for Singapore based so those people will still be safe since they are not based in Colombo. I think you got your ideas wrong they are only looking for Singapore based flight attendant. N by the way they take terrorist attacks seriously all over the world so its not a joke. No airline will want to risk their employee's life including their reputation.

Any flight has risks not just Cathay-Pacific. Doesnt matter where u fly to, as long as you are up in the air, theres so many things that can happen natural disasters or man-made you name it. You can die everywhere and anywhere, whatever the reason may be.

I suggest u read up on that topic posted here, "Aren't you guys afraid of plane crash"? Theres lots of discussions there, and I hope u don't dampen the mood of those who are going for the interviews.

Okay, lots of infighting here.

This route is likely turnaround, you won't be "Travelling" the world. Pay is definitely going to be lesser than SQ. Pax profile is likely to be Hong Kongers/Indians which require much more customer service orientation. I know of CX girls who don't like doing the HKG-SIN route.

Operationally, it's cheaper to open the base here and let their HKG base focus on the international routes. Try SQ if you're looking for international routes, if you're okay with 2 routes, then CX.

No flaming.

Okay - War, safety, etc - Ultimately it's up to you - No one puts a gun to your face and ask you to sign the contract.

Peace.

exactly, if theres bombing will happen long time ago already, not just on cathay pacific, it can happen for other airline who flys to colombo too. If because of that, then no airline will fly to colombo if its really so dangerous to be there.

And Yup like i said no airline will want to ruin their REPUTATION. That is way more important than anything else. They will not want to risk their employee's lives and then have the world see them as a dangerous airline to fly with, say for example: Garuda Indonesia. Has two plane crash since the beginning of this year.
