Hi - I was browsing through the
www.sistic.com.sg website looking for any international rock acts in Singapore and found ZERO rock concerts (can't really consider Olivia Newton John a rock act) for this year.
Does Singapore ever attract any international rock acts and if so, how often?
I know that Dream Theater had visited Singapore a long time back. What about bands like Rush, Porcupine Tree etc.?

I'd like to know that as well. I've been in Sing now for about 2 months and have only seen names such as Cliff Richard and Olivia Newton John advertised... Perhaps one just has to be 60 in Sing to enjoy live music.

Well there was the jazz maestro Chick Corea who did visit Singapore not too long back. Yeah, he's also old but atleast there' some hope to see world class musicians here.

It is good even to hear that someone is talking about Dream Theater in the posts. Unfortunately I am also very disappointed with lack of concerts here. It has been 1 month since I am here, but I became a member in last December. At that time there would be a Yngwie Malmsteen concert. I think for some good concerts we have to fly to Japan
I also sent a post asking about rock bars here, but only received a single reply. Let's keep in touch and find some progressive metal/rock events to enjoy.
See you.
With my kind regards

Dream Theater rulez!!! I really hope that when they come out with their new album, they will do another Asia tour. Maybe we should send them some fans mails! he!he!
I'm also super keen on seeing G3. Seen them a bunch of time while in the US, but really hope they tour Singapore.
Hey, let's keep our fingers crossed!!

Do visit this site:
http://www.myspace.com/jamiemichaeluk
This guy is from England. His name is Jamie Michael.
All music & lyrics are composed by him.
Very talented. He plays the acoustic guitar. He will be performing at the Prince of Wales this sat, 07/04/07.
I'll be going to support him!

Perhaps I can see his performance. I like acoustic performances too, but nothing will replace a rock concert. Whereabouts is this concert place and what time?
With my kind regards

We took my kids to see their first concert - Fall Out Boy at Expo in March. My 9 year old daughter got really into it!! I was surprised at how few people were there, guess Singaporeans aren't really into that kind of stuff.
I saw Foo Fighters at Hyde Park last year, they were awesome. Plus my partner had been over here for 6 weeks and flew back specially for the concert, so it was a nice 'reunion'.
I have their Skin & Bones DVD which has an acoustic set plus the Hyde Park gig if you want to see?

I am a big Foo Fan as well. It's so awesome you got to see them, I would love to see Dave live one day. It's so hard to get their live concerts here on dvd, I was thrilled with Skin and Bones though. Finally!
It's great you got to see them Kat. It must've been fantastic.
The last concert I went to was Linkin Park. It would be great to see bands like Taproot or Hed Pe come over here as well.

Cheers Immortal,
Did you manage to get Skin & Bones DVD with the Hyde Park gig? I got my copy from the UK, cos I couldn't find it here.
Dave is a guy who has really improved with age, if you know what I mean! Course it's really all about the music!
Juliette Lewis & the Licks, (band I can't remember right now), Queens of the Stone Age and Motorhead were supporting the Hyde Park gig, it was so cool, especially QOTSA.
Nice to hear from you

I heard that they were here. Only saw them once in Istanbul after they released Divine Intervention. 2007 seems to lack any big rock/metal band to perform in Singapore. What shall we do? Check tour routes of big bands if they visit Japan?
With my kind regards
