mobile phone co.s - recommendations?

Post by jupiter » Thu, 26 Aug 2004 5:27 pm

Any recommendations for companies in Sing?
I'm not a heavy user but maybe some are better than others.
Also, if there're any that will work in both Sing and Thailand that'd be cool.
Thanks

They all work fine in Singapore and Thailand (but beware of roaming fees). All 3 attempt to outpromote each other on a regular basis, and StarHub's latest gimmick is to offer free international calls.

I see that there are plenty of good offers, but I miss the prepaid offers. Eighter I just didn't find them or they are not in the ads. Can anyone help on this? Best for me would be a cheap handy (or even free), with a prepaid card. Which company offers something like this?

Any of the 3 telco companies Starhub, SingTel, M1 is offering Pre-Payed cards (and the initial chip).
They are available at most 7/11 store, as far as i can recall.

I bought my Prepayed card+chip directly at the Starhub-Service Point at "Plaza Singapura" on Orchard Rd, MRT DaubyGhaut.
If you are no Singaporean or you have no PR, register under your name and hotel address, and show your passport w.visa stamp.

regards, and stay connected....

Danke, Ger-man,

Thanks for the answer. I was browsing through all company web sites but didn't find. What is the price plan for prepaid? Do you get an inexpensive handy with the prepaid chip card?

on prepaid, what is the longest period till expiry? anything longer than 90 days?

i was told by the cab driver about a telco offering $18 for six months? is this true?
don't see it on the websites, though they are also missing crucial prepaid sim card price info, among others...

Just bought yesterday an M1 prepaid card at Lucky Plaza for Sgd 28 and it will expire on 25th January, 2006. (almost six months).
If there is no talktime balance left it will be good only for 90 days, the seller told me.
Out of the Sgd 28 paid, sgd 22 is the talktime worth.
I still have to find out though whether M1's services are good or not.
The seller's opinion is that all telco's services and fees are almost the same.
