Use agency to get indian maid/cook?

Post by Anagha » Thu, 22 Mar 2007 12:59 pm

Hi we are moving there in May and would like and Indian Maid/Cook. Does everyone use an agency to get a maid? or can they simply be hired individually, perhaps obtaining them through a reference.

Thank you for your help!

Even if they come through reference, they cannot stay here unless they have a job (just like you or your husband/wife). With the security bonds, work permits, repatriation costs, guarantees, etc. It makes no sense not to use an agency. Having said that, shop around for prices and more so how they view their domestic helpers (human beings or chattel). 99% probably use agencies due to the headaches involved.

Thanks, Chakdhe,

Which agency did you use? My husband will be there next week looking for a place to stay and I'm hoping he will get more info then.
