The place to start is with this: You are not a 'nobody'. You have an intrinsic worth that is not dependent upon what you do, what you look like, who you know, how you live, or how much money you have. You are exactly equal to all other human beings.
So rule 1 to success in life (whatever that is) is never look up to others and never look down on others. All of us ended up with our circumstances, our bodies, and our brains by sheer chance.
Second, understand your mission in life. When you understand what drives you, you will be successful in what you do when it fulfills your mission.
For example, I am a project manager and I run my own company. My mission is to create a world of caring, love, and understanding by teaching, reaching out, and understanding others. So, how does my mission equate to being a project manager? I teach. I create a flat organization where I am but one part of a team with a role to fulfill instead of a heirarchical organization where I am the boss. The people who work with me learn that it is possible to get things done with respect for others, without climbing a ladder, without putting myself first.
There is more, much more than I can write at the moment. If you believe in yourself you will have the confidence to take risk. You cannot sail to a new shore unless you are willing to sail out of sight of the shore you know so well. Going some place new means giving up the old, and many cannot let go of the security they perceive in the comfort of the familiar.

SE, wow! Quite a pep talk.
Now tell me something, how does the flat organization etc. work for you here in Singapore? I mean there are obvious cultural differences between the US/EU on one hand and Asia on the other. As I’ve told you before I’m from Denmark, which is probably the most “equal”
