The more observant among you will have noticed that I have recently changed my avatar. No, it’s not me preparing for a North African adventure but one of my favourite comedians the late Tommy Copper. I read a biography review the other day which led me to think about some of my best remembered gags of his. This one for instance:
I went to the doctor’s the other day and I said “Doctor I keep having these terrible dreams, these beautiful girls keep running towards me and I keep pushing them away. They keep running towards me and I keep pushing them away.
And the doctor said (‘cos he spoke to me see), he said, “Well, what do you want me to do about it?”
